This restaurant is located right in front of the Barrio Pesquero in Santander, on an unassuming side street. The downstairs bar could easily be confused for an irish pub. But once you go upstairs, you can see how the magic happens. They only have 2 things on the menu - Chuleton a la Brasa and Rape Negro (Black Monkfish). We ordered both, which also came with a side of tomato salad. I used to believe that another local restaurant had absolutely the best "Rape" but my mind was changed after this delicious fish was served. Cooked to perfection, it just melted in my mouth. Unbelievable. The steak was served in a portable charcoal grill and was still cooking when it arrived at our table. It was served a perfect medium rare when it hit my plate, and it was clear that the quality of the meat itself was outstanding. The wine list was extensive and we were allowed to go into their wine room and choose from a variety of different bottles, at a reasonable price.Don't miss Vicente when you visit Santander - you will not be disappointed!

Last night we visited this place in the company of a foreign guest who we wanted to impress, since some of us had been there in previous years, but, there is always a bad day in the kitchen.Attention by Jean Charles great, since we were the only four people at the premises, literally. Great white wine recommended by the maître, but unfortunately don't remember the name. The entrées consiste of slice of delicious tomate from their garden with olive oil, and homemade freshly baked bread, I think this was the best dish of the night. Then some acorn-fed Iberian ham and cured pork loin, no possible mistake with that. But, two of the diners requested clawed lobster (bogavante) to be grilled and the result was very disappointing, dry and salty, overcooked..!I had an order of stewed ox tail with chunky potatoes that came out just ok, and it was a suggestion by the woman chef. And our guest had a good Sirloin steak with a side order of potatoes, which came out quite alright. Then two orders of the house desert, delicious thin layers of citrus waffles filled with some chantilly cream and a side order of homemade vanilla ice cream.Since we complaint about the lobster, and some chipped glasses, the ladies where treated to a gin and tonic and a Baileys on the house. We found that the bill was a bit too steep, close to three hundred euros, for the quality offered and the mistakes cooking the poor lobster, which wasn't discounted from the tab. There are other places in town which would serve a great meal for much less money than this place. Not worth repeating..!

Our yearly friend lunch took us to Santander this time, really nice atmosphere, and good quantity, the chef showed us the meat we were going to eat and prepare them with a hot stone underneath to ensure it keeps warm.I would clearly recommend it.

A great café/bar with a very friendly atmosphere. It has a wide selection of good quality homemade tapas or snacks. Also, their takeaway roast chicken is very tasty especially if you can't be bothered preparing Sunday lunch. Lots of wines and beers to choose from and for a long drink or copa I'd recommend Siderit Cantabrian gin with tonic prepared by Adrian.Thank you very much for your review, Louise and Dan, you know is a pleasure to serve you and to offer you our best. I am too pleased to know that our Siderit gintonic's preparation is your favourite one, because is our special long drink. Thanks for everything again and hope to see you soon again.

We had already visit La Taberna del Herrero in the city center of Santander and we heard about this one. It was a good choice. The food quality is very good, the portion sizes and the different menu options are quite OK (as in the other one). But this place is much larger and it is easier to park than the one in the center. It is more modern decorated as well. It is the perfect place for every ocassion, it doesn't matter if you are going with family, kids, friends... it has a lot of different areas adapted for every case. The only minus point is the location, a bit far from the center. Definitely I would go there again.
