Reviews on Steakhouse food in Harrismith, Free State, South Africa. Harrismith is a large town in the Free State province of South Africa. It was named for Sir Harry Smith, a 19th century British governor of the Cape Colony. It is situated by the Wilge River, alongside the N3 highway, about midway between Johannesburg, about 300 km to the north-west, and Durban to the southeast. The town is located at the junction of the N5 highway, which continues westward towards the provincial capital Bloemfontein, some 340 km to the south-west. This important crossroads in South Africa's land trade routes is surrounded by mesas and buttes. It is located at the base of one of these called Platberg (i.e. "flat / flat-topped mountain" in Afrikaans).

Being from the city, I am very used to Spur Monday night burger specials. After moving to Harrismith I am afraid I will not continue with honouring the Monday evenings out. The "special" burger comes without lettuce or tomato or any garnish. Literally dry bread and a patty.Hi Naude_Marelize,Thank you for taking the time to send us your feedback. If you would like to discuss this further, please forward this on together with your contact details to [email protected] and we'll get in touch with you. Kind regards, Spur Steak Ranches

Skylight lodge has a upper class homey feeling, with a cafe, restaurant and cocktail lounge that is open to the public. We serve from breakfast to sushi. With our own maluti sushi(beef). We also have a wide selection of steaks available and other dishes.
The feel of the restaurant is very nice and cozy. Overlooking a pool with some firelight allowing you to relax. The cocktails we ordered was very sweet and had not tasted anything like what we expected. The staff... Not sure if he was the owner but he was very friendly and assured us they were trying to get more people to visit and trying to have pizza evenings and sushi evenings etc. I ordered a sole with Thermador sauce. Was very disappointed as the sole was burnt (pitch black) on the bottom side but the Thermador sauce was delish. I ended up only having the top piece with the sauce. My husband had a eisbein and also complained it was not tender or crispy at all like he normally gets when he orders elsewhere. I really hope they have jacked up their quality of food and cocktails otherwise they won't see me again. It's a pity as there aren't a lot of competition in town and it would have been nice to atleast have one decent place to dine or lunch. They are still new and trust these are just teething problems
