We attended a wedding function at this venue in Pietermaritzburg. Underground parking was convenient. Upstairs sitting was tight - long, narrow tables made it difficult to lay down platters. After the salad and garlic bread starters we were offered butternut and spinach. Both were good. This was followed by chicken fillet, crumbed fish (didn't look too good) and then with a rice and chips platter to accompany the prawn serving. Lastly we were offered Ice cream and/or tea. Service was good.

Ocean Basket always serves delicious, fresh food. We have tried many dishes thus far, our favourites are the famous fish and chips and platter for one. Today we tried something new, a creamy salmon soup, so delicious and the platter for one which doesn’t disappoint. Hi there Somayya S, Thanks for the review. Naturally Portuguese cuisine varies from region to region, but fresh fish and shellfish are found on virtually every menu. The national dish is “Bacalhau”- dried, salted cod. The Portuguese have been obsessed with it since the early 16th century, when the

I had gone there for a birthday party with work colleagues and friends but it was the worst experience ever. We had to wait so long for our food and drinks. They serve their starters which are so dry and unappetizing. Then when I eventually received my food, there was a hair cooked in the sauce which make me feel like throwing up and to make it worse, when I told the manager, his excuse was it's from the mushroom yet u could clearly see that it was human hair. So I changed my choice of meal as a take away only to get home to find that my half chicken ordered was drenched in lemon juice and was disgustingly sour. I will never go back there. I wasted R160 there for nothing. Pathetic and they had no customers there to have given us such pathetic service and poor food quality.
