We've been going to Jasper's since they opened. The quality has no comparison- always served just right. Jenny has guided the kitchen and service since the first day, over 35 years ago. The pubs, bars and chair restaurants cannot compare It's worth the trip to Pickering wherever you are.

People are talking... From Durham's best chicken wings (really, that's what they say) to sandwiches that are big enough to share to pasta dishes like you have never tasted before and entrees that look like they belong downtown T.O. In a fancy schmancy res

We stopped here passing through Pickering on our way to Toronto, turned out to be a great find, service was very friendly, beer was really cold, my company said the caesars were really good and the food was great. Three of us had the Messy fish sandwich and one had the crispy chicken sandwich and we were all very happy and full. The onion scoop sides are a bit spicy so if your not into that be careful if you are expecting it to be like an onion ring. We would definitely make a point of stopping in here again when we are in the area.Thank you for taking the time to review us James. We’re happy you had an enjoyable experience. Next time you’re in try the Hail Mary Beef Dip, it’s sure to impress!

Halibut House Fish & Chips

I order Halibut and chips, chips well done and extra tartar sauce. The batter was not very crispy and not fully coat fish. The chips were mussy and not crisspy and only 1 tartar sauce was given. The fish tasted good chips were very mushy when I got home... It was only an average meal.

Malt N Salt Fish and Chips

My wife and I were visiting our three grandchildren (and their parents). As the dinner hour approached I was sent to fetch take-out fish & chips from the nearby Malt N Salt tucked away in a small local Pickering neighborhood strip mall. (As a side note…. this eatery is primarily a take-out operation but does also offer dine-in, with three attractively decorated tables with table cloths and comfortable family-style wooden chairs.)The posted menu options for basic Fish & Chips (one or two pieces of fish with a half or one portion of chips) included Tilapia (6 oz), Cod (5 oz) , Haddock (7 oz) or Halibut (4 oz), thus giving a full range of price options… from $6.75 for one piece of Tiplapia with ½ Chips to $19.65 for two pieces of Halibut and one Chips. The menu also included a decent number of Shrimp, Scallop and Chicken Finger options, along with separate orders of French Fries, Poutines, Onion Rings, Garden Salad, Greek Salad, etc. I opted for the Halibut family pack (6 pieces of fish, 3 chips, 1 coleslaw, 1 gravy) $54.95…. plus another three separate pieces of Cod, which happens to be my personal favorite choice for F&C. Unfortunately Cod was not available that night, so I accepted the recommended alternative of three pieces of Haddock. The halibut was really good, totally satisfactory… thin coating of batter and no excess oil. The fries were standard good… not exceptional but also not poor. The haddock was a distinct disappointment… portions appeared large but each piece had large pockets of air and lots of excess oil. The minimal savings from buying haddock instead of halibut were not worth the disappointment with this part of the order. If I go back on a subsequent visit I will definitely order halibut if cod is not available. In spite of the disappointing haddock… overall a “Good” fish & chips eatery for neighborhood locals. But not worth a major detour.
