We were looking for a more authentic restaurant, on the water, and were happy to see several groups of locals/families eating here and decided to try it. We were seated outside at a pitch black table and the server hovered until we ordered, not giving us time to consider the menu. I chose badly, ending up with a whole fish that was not at all coconutty, as it was supposed to be, which was all but impossible to eat in the dark. I husband chose slightly better with the lok lak, but it was not as good as other incarnations of the same dish that we had elsewhere in the trip. I wish we had kept walking and looking...

We popped here for dinner as it is around the corner from Monkey Republic. It is a family run local place with really nice food at very reasonable prices. The satay chicken skewers were amazing- some of the most tender meat we have had in Asia.

Surprisingly this place wasnât busy when we popped in for happy hour sundowners - not sure why not. Great history, ambience, river views, style and service. Oh and selection of drinks too!Then we came back later for a terrific seafood tipped supper. Exceptionally tasty and well balanced flavouring, accompanied by well priced, and chilled, wine.Costs a small amount more than nearby places, but worth it.Hi, thank you so much for kind words. We came down here just after our rainy descent from Bokor Mountain.Tasteful food made at home. Something different then the usual restaurant.Very pleased with the food and the friendly owners.Luckily places like this exist so we can get now and then REAL TASTY non-MSG food.See you again next time when we pass through Kampot area!
