Nice place right in the harbor next to the Catalina Express dock. Service was excellent and menu selection was average. Small portions for the large price. Lovely open dining and big upstairs bar. Not a big Wow experience but we had a great time with friends. Can accommodate large parties.

I was meeting a high school classmate and his wife at Cannon's after 43 years of hardly any communication between us since graduation. I flew in earlier that day and wandered throughout the Laguna and Dana Point areas until it was time to go to Cannon's for our reunion. It was not easy to find, and I was frustrated. Once found, the parking area did not offer a lot of room, but on the other hand, people were moving in and out, so there actually was plenty of room. Once inside and seated, I was taken back by the breathtaking beauty of the view of Dana Point Harbor, the boats and the Pacific Ocean. I could not take my eyes off the view and look at the menu while I waited or my dinner mates. He and she finally arrived, and we had a lot of talking to do. Our server was marvelous and patient and realized that this reunion was a long time coming. My friends both ordered the encrusted swordfish, and I had the Mahi Mahi. Not a single complaint and nothing but compliments for the food and its presentation. On this occasion, none of us had a drink. We were all too excited to talk and catch up, and truly, the food was so, so delicious, we did not need anything beyond that. This restaurant was a truly wonderful place to spend time, eat a truly delightful and delicious meal, and catch up with old friends. Thank you, Cannon's, you are a place that remains in my heart as one of the best!

Friends kept telling us to try this place, so we booked a table for lunch with another couple with whom we often go out. We were all very impressed with the food and the service. The menu is not vast, but there are lots of options, and they were very flexible about preparation. My husband is a crab cake afficianado and he said they were the equal of ones you find on the Chesapeake. Full of crab, very lightly coasted and no (zero) filler. The salad they came with was also reported to be excellent. Ahi salad was also a hit and we were happy with the wines by the glass. Our server, Maria, was first rate. She made helpful suggestions, was on top of everything without being intrusive and even got them to turn the music down a tad. There are inside and outside options for seating. We had a booth toward the back and it was very comfortable (plus, you can watch the cooks). Parking at lunch was easy and there is also street parking. A new fave of ours.

Went here for HH on a Wednesday and had a great time. There were 5 of us and had been boating for the afternoon. Got a good table on the patio overlooking the Dana Pt Harbor. Hostess and server were very good - friendly and helpful with their menu. Their HH menu is extensive!!! Includes the usual appetizers and some entree size meals including fish and chips. We had the HH margaritas and they were very good.Prices for HH were reasonable, good views of the harbor, plenty of free parking. Will be going back!

Second time weâve been here for happy hour. Really good food and good drinks in a beautiful setting. Experience is marred by poor service by two bar tenders/waiters trying to take care of everyone. Waited 15-20 minutes for our car, again indicating a staffing problem. Valet guys were all running and could not keep up with the volume. GM needs to address these issues. Have been going to Dana Pt area for many years. We ate here 3 years ago and it was just OK. We were here 2 weeks ago and it was below par. I ordered a filet which came overcooked and the piece of steak barely resembled a real filet. We are from the Mid-West, so we know great quality beef, and this was not it. Also everything was ala carte. Paying almost 40.00 for a small filet and no soup or salad seemed quite overpriced. The piano player was good though.

It is very difficult to beat starting your day with a well prepared brunch/breakfast while you watch countless surfers ride the waves through the tall windows next to your table. Our server was prompt and pleasant, the food was of high quality and the outstanding view of the rolling waves lulled you into a relaxed state. If you are staying at the hotel, this is a must and frankly it is a destination by itself. We definitely recommend.Thank you for this wonderful review.
