Hold onto your hats. There's a superb new seafood restaurant in town!The location may seem inauspicious, but the Bistrot du Large is full of surprises.On the first floor of an unprepossessing building, you could be forgiven for thinking that this bistro is in the heart of Paris....chic and sophisticated, this is a restaurant runby people who know what they are doing. There is only seafood: the freshest and finest fish and shellfish, delivered three times weekly. We're told there is no freezer...which tells you everything. Difficult to choose from such a divine menu.....assiettes de fruits de mer including atasting plate of a section of different oysters, mussels, prawns, clams and whelks,a dazzling array of fish dishes and an extremely good value menu du jour at â¬19.50at lunchtime during the week. There's an impressive array of white wines to complement your choice.One can choose between the cozy interior and the gorgeous terrace with panoramic views over the Vaucluse hills....the service is impeccable. Attentive and well-informed. These are seafood professionals......a flawless performance.

Première expérience au cours de laquelle nous avons avant tout apprécié l'accueil, la gentillesse et la disponibilité vis à vis du client. Nous avions un timing très serré entre 2 séances de cinéma et le personnel a su y répondre parfaitement. Nous avions opté pour une friture de jeols (petits poissons). Belle portion, excellente friture accompagnée de salade. Au dessert un fondant au chocolat généreux et très bon. Il nous faudra revenir pour tester des plats plus consistants, mais la première approche fut réussie et les délais respectés.

By far the worst experience I have had in France.I discovered the restaurant web site whilst researching for our family holiday in Carpentras, the menu and food looked good. On the day of our visit I booked the table for 7 in advance but was confused when I was asked how many covers we would want...of course I said 7!On arrival we were given a warm welcome by a male member of staff and shown to our table and from here everything went rapidly down hill. Our waitress was sour faced, unpleasant and unwelcoming and when trying to order a basic Martini and lemonade, felt as if I had asked her to personally drive me back to the UK free of charge. We had drinks and ordered our meal and she seemed a little miffed that we did not order the ridiculously expensive wine they were advertising and dared to ask for a bottle of water. The meals came but not with the 2 side orders of chips and having reminded her, she produced the smallest plate of chips (â¬4) I have seen as a side. The meals were just okay and just as the last mouthful was finished she produced the second side order of chips. This was the last straw..we ordered the bill and stood over by a male member of staff as we sorted out the cash and no sooner was it placed on the table he took it. Suffice to say NO TIP was given. I watched as a number of other customers were presented with the wrong food and there seemed utter confusion between the staff. I wished I had looked at Tripadvisor prior to my visit and for someone who uses it extensively it was a bit of a school boy error on my part...lesson learnt.

Wonderful spot. Great service. Terrific food. We are visiting Pernes les Fontaines for 2 weeks and thought a seafood meal would be delightful. We were a party of 6 and elected the seafood platter for 6. What a treat. We started with a lovely 2009 vintage champagne recommended by our hostess. On to the soup, paired (perfectly) with a white Cotes du Rhone (also recommended by our hostess). For the seafood platter (including shrimp in various forms -the blue shrimp was Devine - oysters, clams, mussels and whelks), a white Chateauneuf du Pape was recommended and was sublime. There was ample food and we had no room for dessert. Our hostess was attentive, helpful and courteous. Few people in town speak English, but we got by just fine. Highly recommended.
