Discover Restaurants offering the best Pub food in Taxenbach, Austrian Alps, Austria. Taxenbach is a market town in the district of Zell am See (Pinzgau region), in the state of Salzburg in Austria.
Situated adjacent to the middle gondola station it is very popular with skiers in winter and with hikers in the summer. Also popular with families with young children who have been gold panning nearby. On this visit the interior was not open so the outside terrace was very busy but nevertheless we were well looked after as we quenched our thirst before continuing our hike down the mountain.

Stopped here after a days cycling, sat outside in the sun. The outside seats are next to a stream which makes for a relaxing stop. The coffee was superb and the beer was good. We found online reviews saying this place was pretty good so we thought we would give it a try. We went on a Sunday and the place was packed with families. The server put us in a room up front by ourselves. They do not have any English menus but with a few key words, an online translator and great help we made our choices. We all ordered fish. The food was excellent. The fish I ordered with garlic was the best fish I have ever had and I eat a lot of fish. My wife had fish with a sweet Asian sauce over noodles. Delicious. One of our friends had fried salmon that she loved. The other had fried fish. He wasn't that pleased but he is not a huge fish lover. Weall ordered local beers that were also very pleasant. We wanted to come back but never made it, yet!
