We are catching an early flight in the morning so decided to stay st the Comfort Inn in which Clancy’s is located. We were quickly seated and the service was friendly. I had the seafood plate and my wife had the cod. Both came out quickly and both were tasty and all the items were hot. My plate had cod, mussels, scallops, salmon and cod tongues. Steamed veggies and a side caesar. My wife had the cod, baked potato and the same steamed veggies. Overall a good meal and I would rate it 3.5 stars.

Unfortunately, that is the only truly positive thing I can say about our dining experience. We were a group of 10 and our server was great...especially considering the size of our table. However, the food was very expensive in my opinion. We started with the soup of the day which was supposed to be a spicy curry. For the price per bowl, it should have been crazy delicious but, in reality, it was watery and tasteless. It was burger night so we also had some basic burgers which were pretty good. One member of our group ordered lobster and he said it was good so perhaps we just chose poorly.

Bridie Molloy's

My husband & stopped at Birdie Molloy's for dinner our first night visiting St. John's. The building survived the great fire of 1892 and is approx 150 years old - centrally located downtown on George Street, we entered this pub shortly after 8:00 pm on a Thursday evening. It was quite busy but being a good size, we were able to find a table. It took a while to be served & by then happy hour had just ended but our server Carm S still gave us the happy hour rate for our jug of draft beer. Carm also let us know it may take a while to get our order, which was nice to let us know in advance. We sipped our beer and enjoyed the 2 piece band playing "The Lads". They have live music to enjoy on the weekends. Our meals arrived & I enjoyed my scallops appetizer & my husband his 2 piece fish & chips with a tiny cup of slaw.Lots of history in this building & an interesting story about Birdie herself. They have alot of seafood on the menu, daily specials as well as a traditional Irish Stew cooked with gravy brought over from Ireland. Happy hour is from 4:30-8:00 pm nightly & dinner is from 4:30 - 10:30 pm. They are open at noon daily & serve breakfast as well.Thank you very much for leaving such a detailed review!

It has been offering pub style food menu for sometime and have quite good review by most who ate down there. Nothing than a nice 2 pieces fish and chips with a cold local beer. They serve food weekdays until almost 8 pm... If you stay long enough after your meal, the good part would be music. Live performance by different people almost every night. Some may have a cover charge of $5 or $10 and some events with no Cover. Nice to gather with some visiting friends to the pub after 9 or so to hear some great Newfoundland tunes. Its one of the most popular pubs where musicians launch their CD releases. Cannot miss to visit this pub if in town.

I was the guest of a local last night and thrilled to enjoy a night of good food and music among new friends. I had a very tasty cod dinner (specially prepared gluten-free for me) and a nice glass of Cabernet. Ray "Blacky" O'Leary entertained us, and a small dance floor gave us space for a "scuff and a scoff" - dance and a meal in the Newfoundland vernacular. Personal service, very accommodating.

Great local and Irish fare with great service. Live music nightly featuring the best of Newfounland folk and Irish musicians. Owned by D'Arcy Broderick, formerly of Irish Descendents and Fables bands.

The beer is cold, the food is decent. Came in twice as this is a good place to come in for a drink and listen to some great live music. However came in for wings and was pretty disappointed. Very fatty wings, almost slimy. Quantity was good, sauce was good, but the wings themselves... not so good. I was however intrigued by the irish breakfast but didnt have time to try it. Maybe next time.

Unfortunately the four orders of food we had were horrible, and service was slow. They ruined fish and chips, as everything was soaked in grease and tasted off. The burger was awful, and the two fish tacos were different from each other with an odd flavor. All four of us felt ill afterwards. Had we just gone for a beer, the atmosphere would have been enjoyable, but DO NOT EAT HERE! There are so many great restaurant options in the area, and this is NOT one of them. Expensive for the exceptionally disappointing food.Hi, I'm Cheyenne, a manager at The Celtic Hearth. Our Floor Manager, Larry Weisman would very much like to hear more about your visit and try to correct this situation. If you could call him at (709) 728-3519 we would greatly appreciate it.Thank you, Cheyenne

What an awesome place. Great food, great service. We landed here 10 minutes before last orders and the folks were great. The mussels were fabulous - both the curry and the white wine. The fresh coffee was blackened to perfection. The scallops were so good, our more picky friend left the plate totally clean. I wish we'd had room for dessert! Thanks so much to this great team.

Three St. John's natives advised us that this was "the" place for fish and chips downtown. It was! The fish was offered two ways and the portions were large. As an alternative, I had the turkey wrap, which was stuffed with lean white meat. The fries were some of the best I've ever eaten! They have a great selection of craft beers, of which I heartily recommend the Cappuccino Stout. The servers were friendly and attentive. But do note: it's not a huge place, and it does fill up quickly.
