We are a traditional country pub serving quality, locally sourced food. Incorporating a formal dining area, country snug and main bar with wood burning stoves and traditional decor we aim to provide a homely and pleasant atmosphere. We have a large pub ga

We were staying in the village and expecting great things after reading some of the reviews on TA. The pub was pleasant and well decorated and the staff were friendly. We thought the menu was limited and both finished up ordering fish and chips. Our meals eventually came and as we started eating, we found the fish very disappointing. To be honest, coming from the north we were expecting either cod or haddock. This it certainly was not, the fish was obviously pre-battered frozen and was tough, probably being bass, a type of Asian catfish. Although the chips were cut from skin-on potatoes, they were greasy and soggy. No-one came to ask if our food was OK, or we would have told them!Perhaps, coming from an area where the fish and chips are fantastic, we were asking too much. I think, in future, when we order "fish and chips", wherever it be, we need to ask what kind of fish it is!Good afternoonThank you for your kind words regarding our pleasant pub and friendly staff. I am sorry however, that you did not have a positive dining experience during your visit with us.All of our meals are cooked fresh to order, including our Cod which is prepared with our fresh Beer Batter for our Fish and Chips, so sincere apologies you found this disappointing along with our chips. Our front of house staff should have checked your meals with you - but appears on this occasion that this did not happen with you. I have stressed importance of this to our team so that any future issues can be rectified straight away

Enjoyed a good pint of well-poured and smooth Guinness at Floods. The atmosphere was pretty raucous and there were plenty of people inside and out. The bar and seating areas have a student-like feel to it and in some parts it’s quite dingy. Definitely not a traditional style of pub / bar. Not my favourite place in St Ives.

Just a quick stop off.Had one of our favourite beers on (Hopback, Summer Lightening) so would have been rude not to have a couple of pints. Had a few starters to share they were nothing groundbreaking but pleasant nonetheless.

We visited the White Swan for Sunday lunch following a recommendation from a friend. Booking advised! It's a charming traditional pub with a car park and outside seating. The welcome was warm and all the staff (and other patrons) really friendly. I arrived early was welcome to wait at the bar while the rest of our party arrived. All food was absolutely excellent and reasonably priced - we had various Sunday roasts on our table including beef, pork and lamb. All scrumptious and served with a generous and varied selection of vegetables, Yorkshire puds etc.Catering for a gluten free diet (coeliac, mentioned when booking) was superb - dietary requirements were confirmed when we were seated and again when placing a food order. A separate serving of gluten free gravy was provided - well done!In summary, we had a super lunch and will definitely hurry back and recommend to others :)

This little pub is quite small internally but very cozy.Part of the Greene king chain, the pub serves a decent range of beers and ales and also welcomes dogs on leads. We visited for lunch today and both opted for the steak and ales pie served with chips and vegetables and at a tenner each, was money well spent. The pies were excellent and we're full of chunks of beef with a few carrots lobbed in for good measure. Coupled together with two pints of coke, our food totalled a very fair £26.50.A cracking little pub in a lovely part of Cambridgeshire.Visited 16th February 2019.

The staff were truly excellent and the food was far better than average for a hotel restaurant. Not the least expensive venue in St.Ives but worth the extra for a tasty and well presented meal.As well as cooked meals, the restaurant also serves a range of sandwiches, burgers etc.Certainly a place to return to if in St.Ives.

The Cock

Reviewed By Andysview

Cambs Cuisine restaurants are usually so good, so quite a surprise with the Cock. Have been a number of times and usually good, however tonight not so!Tried a fish special starter, King Prawns with garlic, chilli and ginger sounded really nice, however reality was far from expectation. 3 small prawns with a somewhat bland dressing on a bed of blend puree. £8+, avoid, the Duck Parcels that others in our party had were much better choice. I know what I will have IF I go again. Main course steak was much better, if a little basically presented, however others that had the beetroot risotto reported to be rather bland. Deserts were basic fare, nothing to write home about. In summary, they really need to look at the taste of their dishes, after all what is the main priority of the food that is served. TASTE!On the positive side, service was excellent and the beers very good (apart from running out of their guest beer half way through service. May return, but will be keeping a keen eye on reviews first to see if they sort out their menu and flavours. Thank you for leaving us some feedback on your recent visit to us, sorry to hear that you had some disappointment with the food that you ordered. The tiger prawn dish does have a simple puree with it as the prawns themselves have been blasted with the strong flavours of garlic, chilli & ginger, we want to avoid losing these wonderful tastes with more over powering spices. It may well still be on the fish menu next time, if you were to come again. It was supposed to come off a week ago however its been so popular we've extended its time with us.Good to hear you enjoyed the steak. With the beetroot risotto, I like to mix the strong flavours of the smoked mozzarella & candied walnuts, that dress the top, into the risotto. It really brings the dish to life! Our current dessert menu does have a lot of classics on there but I feel chef has given them our own unique twist. If you come again, which I really hope you do, you must try the Pear Tart Tatin with celery syrup & Gorgonzola ice cream or the Chocolate Orange Fondant with chocolate soil & filled with orange curd.Sorry that the guest ale went while you were here, we only get 1 keg of each of the guest ales in, then once its gone its gone, the line is then cleaned & the next one then comes on. The change over can take about an hour or longer if its busy. However with the two house ales & IPA we can kept the flow going much quicker.Lovely to hear that you appreciate our service & hope very much that we get to see you again soon.RegardsBen

I had booked a table & we ended up having three courses because the menu was so nice & the price was good for freshly cooked & well presented food. We need to call again to try more dishes.

Booked a table for 2, when arrived I ordered our roast dinners straight away. Other customers who arrived after us were served, so after 40 minutes I enquired where our meals are, nothing was said except they will be out straight away.
