we were well surprised that things improved, from the booking online up to experience in restaurant. I had Momo on the phone and she really "solutions oriented", Bravo! and in the restaurant Josselyn was efficient, quick and in every detail! Well done!

My boyfriend and I first visited Jim's restaurant when it first opened in its new location in the more central part of St Genis. Unfortunately there was only one vegetarian option, a veggie burger which I always try to avoid as they are normally bread-crumbed mush burgers, and sure thing, that's what it was. My boyfriend's fish and chips was also exceptionally small, it looked like a normal bit of fish had been cut in half. So we were reluctant to go back. However, after seeing on their website that the dinner menu had changed and consisted of 3 more interesting vegetarian choices, we decided to give it another go.On arriving we were seated and given a one-side paper menu. There were only 2 other tables, so it was not busy at all.My first problem was that the menu was not the same as the one advertised online, and again, the only vegetarian option was a vegan burger which made my heart sink. There were also not as many dishes for meat eaters as was advertised online and there were no descriptions of what anything was, so it was just a stab in the dark about what might come out i.e. did the burgers come with chips, did the fish and chips come with peas etc? I would have thought menu descriptions would be an essential part of any restaurant that wants to be taken seriously. But as we had already been seated, we decided we would still give it another go and I was planning on asking what had happened to the better online menu.So we waited .. and waited for our order to be taken. The waitress was at the counter with what we initially thought was a shop customer. So we waited some more. However it became clearer that the 'shop customer' was probably the waitresses friend who she was just standing chatting to.About 10, maybe 15 minutes passed, then a table of 5 came in, they were seated and within one minute their order was taken. The waitress then disappeared out the back completely ignoring we were even there. At this point we decided that a) we didn't really want to eat anything on the menu anyway, b) even if we did order, our food would now come out after the table of 5, and c) we were unhappy that we'd been completely forgotten about, despite there only being 2 tables in prior to us arriving. So we got up and left and went across the road to O'Brasseur (where incidentally we ordered, got our drinks and even our food in the same amount of time we had been waiting for our order to be taken at Jim's, despite O'Brasseur being much much busier). Also, during the time we were waiting, we had chance to look over the menu and in all honesty, I can not work out how they price their food. The vegan burger was the same price as the meat burger (?) which was also the same price as avocado on toast! 15 euros for avocado on toast?? A bacon roll was only 5 euros and you could add avocado for an extra 3 euros ... which implies that the toast alone costs 12 euros? Maybe it came with extra, but as there was no description, we just took it at face value. And again, the breakfast menu was not the same as advertised online, with no sign of a vegetarian full English. This place just seems like it doesn't really know what its doing and I think the only reason it's staying in business is because of the massive mark-up they make on their shop products (10 euros for some cider that still had the £4 price tag on).I think we can confidently say that we will not be giving this restaurant a 3rd chance.
