Located on Manila Bay in the South China Sea, and bisected by the Pasig River, the capital of the Philippines is historic and modern, rich and poor. A popular sight is the walled area called Intramuros. The capital during Spanish colonization, Intramuros has retained old dungeons and gunpowder rooms but added art galleries and theaters. The city is filled with museums, shops, parks and churches, plus enough nightlife to last until dawn.

White Moon Bar

Reviewed By Cybill Y

By default, I hate this whole establishment because it is exactly at the place where I used to watch Manila Bay sunset FOR FREE. All I had to do was walk, find a good spot, buy a cheap cooler at one of the kiosks, then done. Now you have to pay to access this perfect Manila Bay sunset spot. So anyway, it's kind of difficult to get to this location. The parking is far (that we opted to just valet), you have to squeeze yourself through crowds of people from Manila Ocean Park, ride the elevator, enter another restaurant before you can get here. All that trouble. Now here comes the terrible experience. In my opinion, the buffet layout is definitely not well thought of. The bar is at the middle, the buffet is at the edge right in front of the bar and beside the stage for the performers. The barbecue station is beside the bar, right in front of the buffet table, so that means you have 2 lines in just one aisle. And there people passing by in between. So meaning to say it's very crowded and very easy for people to cut in line. Now you would expect the location to have more refined guests because I dont think this is a fast food restaurant. So here I am, with my hubby, resolving to line up for the barbecue because, in our minds, the trip would not be worth it if we're unable to try it. We were dressed nicely for the humid night, queueing, with my huge baby bump. The barbecue queue wasnt going as fast because, of course, they have to grill in batches. Then suddenly this woman had the nerve to cut the line in front of me, when I was already at the station itself and holding tongs, and even brought another companion to cut with her. We waited a good 5-10 mins so this really pissed off my husband. I mean, WHAT KIND OF PERSON CUTS THE LINE RIGHT IN FRONT OF A PREGNANT WOMAN??? My husband immediately took all the newly placed barbecue at the station (we lined up for that and it's our turn) and said something about cutting the line, then left. This outrageous woman then started hurling curses at my husband. We did not hear it. But my cousin did, so she confronted the said unruly woman. My mother in law talked to one of the waiters and mentioned that, if not for the layout of the buffet, and the poor management of the queue, the incident would not have happened. The waiters were apologetic enough to offer serving us food instead of us lining up. But at the end of the day, that didnt solve the problem. Plus our appetites were already ruined. I only had the chance to eat the barbecue and corn. Good enough. The pastries were too bland for my taste. Still, the food quality wasnt good enough to make us shake off the experience. After a while, I think the waiters have forgotten what happened so we ended up falling in line again. Since it was mother's day, they gave all mothers roses, plus a raffle. And I won twice. Which coincidentally seems like their way of making it up to us. But in my opinion, the management wasnt apologetic enough for incident. I was beside my husband the whole time and I did not hear a single sorry from anyone at all. Though I won a gift certificate at this establishment and another at Makan Makan, I dont think I would want to use it. Not worth it at all.

G Point is a restaurant-bar near Robinson's popular with foreigners. The menu is decently large and has salads, pizza, tacos, wings, and there are beer specials also. There is a guard there (for some reason I don't know) who is friendly and the staff was helpful and friendly when I was there. You can order their popular buffet or also alacarte entrees.Prices are average for a foreigners type of place. It has air conditioning and it is non smoking which is a nice respite from the other restaurants in town.Restroom also had a sink that actually works and a towel and soap haha. They play sports on the wall mounted TV's and you can request specific games (allegedly).

COWBOY GRILL

Reviewed By Cyrusk4

It's a well-known hot spot in the equally scammy nightlife area of Malate. I was told this was a great place to check out, so I did and had a couple terrible experiences. The first one I'll mention happened when I bought some food on 04/21/18. I went to the entrance and there were 2 or 3 of their sexy cowgirls working, and one of them (very friendly, the slightly chubbier one) took my order. I saw on the menu a combination of 2 pizza slices, chicken and salad for 150 pesos. I thought this was a good deal and I placed my order. She returned with the bill of almost 500 pesos. I asked what was going on and she said I ordered a whole pizza, too. I did not order a whole pizza. There's no way it could have been interpreted that I did, and her explanation was "Oh because you said it was a take away order"... Wtf? I explained this was incorrect but there were no "sorries" just "Oh hehe well too late have to pay." I realized at that moment I'd just been scammed. A very, very silly scam that adds a couple bucks to the business while making enemies with a customer. The pizza in the combo meal was a bizarre combination of pineapple, onions and other things that don't really go on pizza (I asked for pepperoni.) Meanwhile, the new pizza I didn't order was the pepperoni like I asked, but it nevertheless tasted like a strange imitation of a pizza versus actual pizza (but this is typical in SE Asia so who am I to complain?) Feeling overall really angry, I donated the pizza to the tired, hungry late-night hotel clerks and it looked like I made their entire night. This made me feel like all's well that end's well.BAD EXPERIENCE #2The previous night I attended their late night club. How great was the party? Mediocre. They'll regularly pause the dance floor to bring out a live band who sings terrible covers of pop hits. Why not just keep the dance floor going? But the bad experience happened when I left. I got hassled by the security for not having a "receipt" to prove I bought beers while i was inside. I don't know if this is customary in Philippines but I don't think it is. What is this, the mafia? I bought two beers while I was in there and I had no receipt because why the heck would I ask for them? They never told me inside that security would give me a hard time when I left. I defended myself and the security backed away.Overall, they treat their customers like scum.
