Where to eat Polynesian food in Rarotonga: The Best Restaurants and Bars

September 29, 2019 Rosalyn Ihle

Reviews on Polynesian food in Rarotonga, Southern Cook Islands, Cook Islands. Sipping coconut milk while bargaining for handmade jewelry and swaying your hips to live music—just another Saturday morning in Rarotonga. After a few hours of checking out the wharf-side Punanga Nui Market, hit the beaches of this reef-protected volcanic island. There are plenty of picturesque lagoons that allow peaceful swimming or snorkeling, and moonlit strolls along the East Side sands are pure magic. Raro Safari Tours are a popular way to explore the island’s vivid rainforest.

Oh man, I ate EVERY last bite. It was the creamiest chicken n mushroom fettuccine I have ever eaten, and I lapped it all up - it was a generous serve too!! And the spare ribs, delicious! They were covered in a delicious sauce, and absolutely fell off the bone. The chicken curry was good, it was breast meat and would have been nicer if it was thigh meat.Wine for only $9 a glass, and a very decent pour, no complaints there! Definitely worth a visit.Hello BarbWatsOnThank you so much for your detailed review! We are so glad you enjoyed your dining experience with us, I will be sure to pass on your lovely feedback to our staff! We appreciate you taking the time to review Kikau Hut.Thanks again.

This is one of the nicer restaurants on Rarotonga, which doesn't say much (it's not really a dining destination). The food was decent, but nothing spectacular, and the service was just okay. We found that ordering a glass of wine or other alcoholic beverage tended to make the waitstaff more friendly. The view was gorgeous, though.
