Both this and the bar next door Gevangenpoort,are run by the same people and both are excellent . Lovely location by the canal and the old prison gates, they have an interesting menu as well as very good pizza and we had a lobvely sea bream risotto and some decent rose wine. You can walk through from the restaurant to the bar next door or sit outside in the sun in the little courtyard which joins the two. The staff are lovely and the bar has a charming old feel to it. Visited several times when we were in Edam.

During our trip to Volendam, we were in search of some restaurant to eat some vegetarian food. We found this place and we got a superbb delicious vegetarian pizza served to us. The owner was very friendly too. Pizza was really good and above our expectations. Good food served well. Thanks ...

Great simple Italian food, pastas, pizzas, etc. Only restaurant in Monnickendam open on Monday evenings. Servings were proportioned well and prepared fresh. A very extensive menu giving the size the restaurant, which was small.
