La Cantina Pizzeria

I considered a few options within Port of Spain for a milestone birthday dinner and La Cantina came highly recommended. From my initial inquiry to my last email of gratitude, communication was superb! Joni answered all my questions with patience and grace, returned my calls quickly, invited me to do a site visit and provided the level of service that was amazing (and quite frankly that I may have grown accustomed to not receiving from other restaurant establishments). Each time my headcount changed, she sent a revised quote promptly; and as we discussed and agreed changes to the menu, she emailed me with updates each time. She was fantastic at making suggestions based on some of my guests’ dietary requirements and the chef was happy to work with me on this and other special requests. I loved that there were no restrictions to bringing my own cake and without coercion to order one of their desserts instead. The private room was a lovely space. Closed to the main dining room, it was ideal for our group of 13 persons and a buffet setup. It would quite easily do for a group of 20 – 25 persons leaving enough space for mingling. The staff were amazing on the night. Joni made sure to be there for my dinner. Again, much appreciation for this, as so many restaurants have someone working behind the scenes dealing with clients but are notably absent for the actual event. Nero, the supervisor was attentive and helpful throughout. And Adayah was wonderful as our server, taking and filling drink orders with efficiency and aplomb. I highly recommend La Cantina Pizzeria. Just don’t let their name fool you – they don’t only sell pizzas. There are tons of other things too including all manner of appetisers, seafood & meat mains, salads, wraps, burgers & sandwiches, pastas, combo platters, desserts and even a kids’ menu. I’m looking forward to having lunch here soon and would definitely love to host another event here in the future!

MammaMia

Did lunch here on a Wednesday.Service was quick and friendly.Ambience is attractive and casual.I ordered the Mamma mia pasta. It was quite delicious. The disappointment is there were no mushrooms, nor black olives (my backup to replace the mushrooms). Settled for corn in it and can only imagine how much better it would have been with the correct ingredients. Strange for an Italian restaurant to not have mushrooms and olives though. The tiramisu was authentic and excellent! My martini was one of the best melon martinis I have had.
