We were looking forward to our first pizza on Italian land. The garden environment was comfortable, although we were disturbed by smoking customers. Pizza was somehow disappointing as the dough was rubbery and the seasoning quite insipid. The service was all right but slow. Overall was not a bad experience but I would not visit again for a pizza night.

We were a group of four, we booked there for my daughter's birthday.Owner and staff went out of their way to accommodate us in the best spot for the baby's stroller. As soon as we sat down they brought us a welcome starter consisting of Italian bruschetta: The most tastefull tomato ever drizzled with black pepper and origano tossed on a slice of home made bread. We've ordered starters, both raw and cooked. Ohhh God what a wonderful experience! A beautiful composition of food explosion on a plate composed by red prawns scampi, half shell mussels, octopus carpaccio and so on. You could taste the ocean in every single bite of that.We were full already due to the enormous quantity of food served so far. Nevertheless, they've brought us the main coarse, we've ordered vongole linguini pasta, risotto allo scoglio and paccheri... HEISSHH! just imagine each plate could have served two patrons, we shared this treasure from the ocean! Unfortunately we didn't have anymore space to eat the second coarse, but we will definitely go back to taste it! Compliments to the owner for the attention paid to every detail of each peace of food. Nice place nice staff wonderful landscaping and delicious food... A must visit!

Last night was like an episode of fawlty towers; tables being set and orders taken according to who you were, not when you arrived, regulars just going to the kitchen themselves to get food and drink while us mere mortals had to wait, food was either forgotten or arrived too late for you to enjoy it. This place only works for those who happen to live above it!!! Waiter did his best despite the appalling conditions in which he had to work. My father in law was extremely angry but as a result managed to substantially reduce the bill - perhaps the only positive note of the evening. In terms of service, this was undoubtedly the worst experience I've ever had.

Just close to Portopalo beach and the newly constructed church, sits this little gem of a restaurant. At first glance it looks like a renovated container from the outside. However inside it has a pleasant and light décor, with crisp white table linen. We went for a pizza, and it was delicious, but be warned it only has one size, and that is family size!. The selection of pizzas was varied and we had a Norma, which was tomatoes, grilled eggplant with grated baked salty ricotta. Mouth watering, my partner had a Rucolosa, made of proscuito crudo, tomatoes, mozzarella and rocket leaves, crispy and gorgeous. The menu is well supplied with either fish or meat as well as contorni. The wine list is local and imported, but we chose the local beer. We were not able to do it justice so had it packed to take the rest away!!Prices very very reasonable with the most expensive pizza being approx. 10 euros.Worth the visit.

Despite the naff name and the cheapo signage this is a delight. The siting is splendid, overlooking the sea and a few bobbing boats. I was prepared to accept second best in food as a trade off for the site. I was wrong. My wife and I had a single course each. She had a risotto of mussels, prawns and clams which was fine in every respect. Well presented and of generous proportion. I ordered the "Soup with fish". What appeared was a wonderful fish stew. A fish broth flavored with saffron in which a slice of swordfish, a whole tornado, three cicada de mer, a squid in its natural parts, a langoustine that thought it was a small lobster and a handful of fresh shell on prawns resided contentedly. The broth was reinforced with capers, halved cherry tomatoes, garlic and parsley. Service was slow, this was cooked not Microwaved from a freezer. Was it worth the wait. Yes. Eased by cheap and cheerful chilled red wine. What more can be asked of lunch?

The Pizza is excellent, the sausage cooked the traditional grilled style, a good cellar of excellent Sicilian wines and desert wines. A great place to hold birthdays and special events and the restaurant itself holds Sicilian nights of singing and dancing the summer. Great atmosphere and the prices are reasonable and you can walk to the beach or the village.

I wanted to take the time to write a review for U Palangaru. We recently stayed in Sicily Portopalo June - July 2014 and were extremely happy to have come across this restaurant. Mario and his staff were extremely accommodating, we tasted beautiful local food, fresh and delicious. Thankyou for introducing me to the 'Vino di Mandorla' i am still in search for in Australia. We had a night out with 10 guest and Mario and his staff brought out fantastic dishes and impressed my friends. Top Service, friendly and beautiful food. what else could you ask for!Thankyou Mario and the team. From the 2 sisters Concetta and Rita!!

Had a take-away of pizza and orecchiette with prawns. Doughy base pizza, very bland; pasta tasteless. Menu is far too big. This was our worst meal in Sicily.

Most likely one of the best Pizza I ever had, more I donât need to say. So why not a five when the food is great and the service is top? The location and tje restaurant is not the most cosy you can imagine. Bur again, if you donât care about this, you have to go there to taste real Italian pizza. (Although I donât understand pizza with fries, but mu son loved it)
