Ernie's has been our family's favorite pizza place for many many years. It is easily as good as the more famous New Haven pizza restaurants and much easier to get into. They are nowhere as well known as they should be but maybe that is ok for our family since they do not have a line out the door.

Where? Just behind Zinc. Walk down an alley and look up to the interesting art. Who? Nine people -- sitting outside on a spring night. Nine people -- omnivores, vegetarians, people with allergies. Nine people -- all delighted. Two kale caesar salads. Olives. White bean salad. Taleggio cheese. Olives. And that was just to start. Delicious portobello, broccoli rabe, and blanco pizzas. "Interesting" loaded baked potato pizza. And the most magical, most outstanding of them all: salmon gravlax pizza. And then, just to cap off the meal, a nutella & strawberry pizza for dessert. The only negative: hardly any leftovers.

Greek pizza has a different crust than italian. It is more reminiscent of chicago deep dish pizza, but not quite. The pizza is excellent, and not too expensive. We usually get the same thing every time. The greek salad is awesome. They will tell you not to order the large, but we always do. (We are salad lovers). I have tried the chicken souvlaki sandwich, it comes with fries and is loaded with tziki sauce, comes in a pita. The burgers are excellent as are the pasta dishes. Everything I have ever had there was excellent. I only once had a bad experience. It was some sort of Yale event and the place was packed. We waited nearly an hour, and no one ever took our order, so we left. IN 20 years, 1 bad experience is not a lot, and it wasn't about the food, but that they forgot us.

Tarry Lodge is Italian style, with subtle yet distinct tributes to New Haven. A black and white oyster tile floor is punctuated by a custom inlayed mosaic and bronze bulldog statue. Tarry Lodge offers an impressive wine list and menu that includes house-m
Pizzas are well made, the special salad of the day is a nice appetizer (yet it has a bit too much dressing), the branzino is charcoal dark all over but managed to remain soft enough inside, the chocolate cake is creamy and heavy (some people look for that). The place is noisy, very noisy !The staff is nice and efficient. The bill is overpriced.

Four of us ordered four small pizzas because we could not decide from all the choices! The fig and prosciutto won. Rosemary chicken was a nice change. Brussel spouts were good. You can have vegan cheese on any of the pizzas. Overwhelming options for people used to not having a good time in pizza places!Brussels sprouts were good.We ended up taking more than one pizza home but no complaints about leftovers. We got there at six and it was empty. We worried that maybe it would nit be good. But there were crowds of people by six thirty. A new favorite restaurant.

I'll start with this: Frank Pepe Pizza is the BEST!! No, its not crazy combinations of toppings one can get at other pizza places--it's just the BEST pizza ever. The dough, the sauce, the toppings---unmatched. There. I said it.THE SPOT is the little place behind the Frank Pepe larger restaurant. The pizza is the same. It's smaller, quieter and feels like home. I love how informal everything is here.If you want balsamic fig pizza, or barbecue chicken pizza...this isn't your thing. You'll be disappointed. If you want the BEST pizza...Frank Pepe.

We love Brazi's, its food and its people. We eat there regularly, and when our extended family has a gathering for special (and sometimes solemn) occasions, Brazi's is our go-to place for these functions. The food and service are excellent, the portions are plentiful, and their prices are favorable. It is hard to find better food.Thank you, Charles. We are so glad you love our place. We are proud to be your go-to spot for any and all family gatherings. We hope you'll be back for some more delicious food and excellent service soon. Best,Val, General Manager

After a decade I finally returned, next time I will not wait as long. This pizza was absolutely delicious. Delicious sauce and cheese just enough on a thin to medium crust that was on the verge of chewy and crunchy. At one point I actually thought the crust might've been even better than the sauce and cheese part, now that's saying something. Lots of dining space here thought you might have a problem when it's crowded. Go before six and beat the crowd. Clean place, decent service and you get what you pay for, that delicious pie!!
