Food was mediocre . Service was good. Temperature of the room was horrendous. It was just plain HOT inside. Never did get cooled down. There was an odor in the room that we could not identify. That may have been a good thing. Not impressed at all.

Decided to head here one night after work with 12 co-workers. We were seated in the back room area and felt like we had the place to ourselves which which was nice. As our party got larger, our server was right on top of it. He was bringing out enough chips for the whole table along with both hot and mild salsa which was great. We all ordered and I went with the ACP which was grilled chicken, rice and some melted nacho cheese. We waited a bit but I attribute that to how big our party was. A bit later our food was served and we all dove in. My chicked was grilled well but lacked flavor while the rice was tender and there was a decent amount of cheese but not so much my dish was swimming in it. It was a decent sized portion of food which left me full but not stomach busting which I appreciate. My one complaint was that after clearing our plates, our server disappeared and didnt bring our checks. After a few we just decided to head to the front and tell the cashier what we ordered so he could bill us. The service was good and the food cheap so it wasn't a bad place to dine but I was hoping for a bit more flavor.

Stopped of lunch and was pleased about how nice the restaurant looked and how clean it was. They had what appeared a nice lunch buffet but we decided to have a combo meal. It included a chile con queso, taco and beef enchilada. Boy what a disappointment, the chile con queso was a tough tortilla with ground beef and cheese on top and was just tasteless. The tortilla tasted old and really tough and the ground beef had no texture or taste. I don't know how the fixed the beef but there was no flavor to it at all. Wondered if the boiled it. The taco had the same wonderful beef on a hard shell and some cheese and lettuce, very generic and bland tasting. The enchilada wasn't any better and possibly worse. It had the same ground beef wrapped in a tortilla and had canned sauce poured it. Worst example of an enchilada I've had in years.Sure was disappointing lunch

We were very lucky to find this place last night while just walking around downtown. I have never heard anything of them so we decided to give it a try and so glad we did. The food and drinks were so amazing...I had a lime margarita, civeche, and we had this amazing platter for two. The food was way better than I expected. My husband said it was better than Willy Taco. We will be spreading alot of good words about this place and look forward to going back soon.

There are many good Mexican restaurants in the Spartanburg area. El Mexicano rates five stars as some of the best Mexican food Spartanburg has to offer. As a chile relleno aficionado, this will be one of the best chili rellenos you will ever put in your mouth. No, it is not a complete stuffed chili that many restaurants offer. Their chili relleno blends the chili into the recipe of beef, refried beans and mouth-watering cheese with a marvelous outer crust.Everything from the main course to the rice and beans was fantastic!Nice and clean, friendly and fast service... what more could you ask for?

Very good place to get variety of Mexican food on Main Street. It is causal but more upscale than the usual Mexican Food Restaurant. It has nice ambiance - updated and modern restaurant. Very clean looking inside. The food was also good with a variety of choices. Be sure to ask the waiter about some of the sauces, they are a little different. My wife and I enjoyed and we will return.

I’m not a big fan of Mexican food but Papas and Beer changed my mind. We’ve eaten here 4 times in the past couple of months and as always the food and service is great. The food tastes fresh and has been consistently good. I used to eat Mexican 3-4 times a year but we eat here at least once a month.
