We stopped here for an early dinner and really enjoyed the short rib tacos. We were inside because we are from out of town and not used to the heat. The patio outside looked really nice, maybe if we are here in the winter next time we can try that. Our server Kara was really nice as well. Do not miss the home made cookies on the way out! Delish!

The restaurant has nice ambience. If you and friend(s) want to converse it would be difficult. We were seated inside and asked to move to a more quiet area. The waiter moved us outside. It was still very difficult to hear each other. Chips were good. Tacos were acceptable. Maybe it was quieter for lunch.Hi healthyeater2013, Thanks for taking the time out of your day to leave us a review; we appreciate the support. We look forward to having you in again very soon. Expected a typical, traditional Mexican restaurant, especially located in Old Town Scottsdale, however this is your modern, American slant on Mexican food which is ok for some I guess.Drink choices are plenty and I do recommend their Margaritas where they do not shirk on the alcohol. We had a couple of different ones each, I particularly liked the mango flavour.Food wise the menu isn’t extensive and essentially it’s taco’s, fajitas or enchiladas. We both went for tacos having two each with different fillings. These came with beans- refried or black and rice. The food was ok, nothing special and it wasn’t massive portions with minimal meat. You would get a lot more in a traditional Mexican for the price you pay. Price wise it worked out to $66 but that was 4 margaritas and the food.Overall ok just uninspiring.

Unfortunately I do not eat much “heat” and the Peruvian Stew was very hot so our server recommended the Mahi tacos. I ordered fish grilled and although cooked well the portions was more appropriate for appetizers and not a meal with minimal seasoning. The tacos are advertised as fried and come out twice the size so there must be a lot of batter. I would not order again. My husband, who is able to eat spicy food, had the stew and it was too hot for him. He ate the fish but left the rest. The yuca bread was okay. The guacamole looked fantastic and I would recommend based on everyone’s response. It might have made my tacos more flavorful. Enjoyed seating outdoors in back patio.

We love authentic Mexican food and consider ourselves “foodies”. Barrio Queen was one of the BEST meals we have ever eaten. Our server, David, was extremely helpful and friendly , without being pushy at all. The chips and salsa are fresh and amazing. My husband had the mango Fresca which was delicious and I enjoyed the tasty house margaritas. Hubby had the chili’s en nogada.... absolutely delicious, so different from anything we’d ever eaten. I picked the award winning conchinita pibil. WOW!! It was the best tasting pork we have ever eaten. So moist and flavorful, and not a bit of fat. We both enjoyed the dish and took home 1/2 for tomorrow. To top off this incredible meal we shared the chocolate cake. On a huge bed of vanilla bean ice cream the cake came with a mini pitcher of the most Amazing homemade chocolate/cinnamon sauce. OUTSTANDING!Thank you to the wonderful staff and cooks for an amazing experience!Hello LoveTravelOrlando_FL for your awesome review. We love to hear that you enjoyed are food and drinks. We dined here on our last night of our girl’s trip. I selected this resto based on reviews and prayed that my friends would love it. Well, we were not disappointed. Yay!!! The menu is extensive so it was a bit overwhelming to choose. Our wonderful server, Erica, suggested that we opt for the chef’s tasting where we would get the chance to taste many of their top dishes. It was perfect! We had the pomegranate guacamole, tacos, kimchee fried rice, sea bass, sumo rolls, shaking beef, ceviche and more! Erica surprised us with dessert so that was so sweet! Thank you Erica!! We, 7, ladies were happy. Oh the space! Very spacious. It was in a plaza so I figured plenty of parking. Not 100% sure since we used Uber. Anyway, there was a tree in the middle of the restaurant which was captivating. Nice wide bar with huge TVs. We were seated in the patio. It was nice and not too hot (dinner was around 7pm). Type of music was great and not too loud that you can’t hear yourself speak but enough to feel like you were at a lounge somewhere. Great ambiance and food overall. Definitely a place to check out in Scottsdale.
