TacoRito

TacoRito has surpassed Mexican Mariachi Grill for the title of favorite Mexican restaurant that is a convenient drive from my home. A high honor, I know. For starters, they consistently get their orders right. What I ask for, I get, nothing left out and everything fulfilled as requested. Seems like a small thing, I know, but it's apparently quite a stretch for their competition. It's a lot more than simply filling the orders that makes TacoRito so good, though. The food is solid, and the serving sizes are huge. I've joked about getting food the size of a football before, but my Chipotle burrito was literally the size of a football, and it had to have weighed three pounds. It also had quite a bit of heat to it, which is a nice change to most places around here that cater to a, shall we say, more timid palate. While the burritos are huge and delicious, there are many other excellent choices here, and that's another part of what makes them so good: their menu is just plain fun. Whether it's the Fatrito (a fried version of the burrito covered, and I mean COVERED in liquid cheese), the street-style tacos, rice bowls, empanadas, flautas, Mexican Jambalya, or their delicious Churros or Fried Oreos for dessert, most everything they do here as a unique spin on it. I'm very pleased their around, and if you're looking for some decent Mexican food in the Robbinsville/Hamilton Square area, this is probably your best choice.

In our never ending efforts to find a good Mexican restaurant in Mercer County, NJ, my wife and I decided to try out Fiesta Brava for lunch. When we arrived, I was excited to see that it appeared to be one of those hole-in-the-wall restaurants that so often are hidden gems. Oh how wrong my first impression was.Upon entering the restaurant, I shrugged off the worn look of the tables and booths and the fact that we were the only customers during prime time lunch hours. Soccer was on the wall-mounted TV's and there was a rack with newspapers and magazines written in Spanish. Authentic Mexican for sure!We were seated promptly and handed menus, then the waitress disappeared for way too long. The menu had a nice selection of standard Mexican fare along with a breakfast section and some really strange entrees such as beef tongue burritos and a scrambled egg/French fry combo. Go figure, i shrugged, maybe that's normal for the Ecuadorian folks. The waitress finally came back to take our orders. Although I was intrigued with some of the off the wall menu choices, I decided to play it safe for our first visit. I was starving and ordered the beef enchilada plate and asked for a taco on the side. The waitress replied that tacos come in orders of three. I asked if I could just get one on the side (seemed simple enough) and she replied she'd find out. My wife ordered the vegetable burrito with guacamole. The waitress said they were out of guacamole. Good grief - a Mexican restaurant without guacamole? So she ordered the vegetable burrito without guacamole. For drinks, my wife asked for water and I asked for iced tea. The waitress gave me a strange look as if I were from another planet. Turns out iced tea wasn't an option. So I ordered Inca Cola to try something different. I think this is the first restaurant I ever visited where iced tea didn't exist. Turns out Inca Cola is basically yellow cream soda. And Coca Cola owns it.The waitress disappeared again and I commented that I sure hope some chips and salsa show up soon. Then I noticed a loud beep. And about 20 seconds later another loud beep. I don't know if it was a smoke detector with a dying battery or what, but for the rest of our meal, the beep continued like clockwork.Anyway, the chips and salsa finally found their way to our table. The salsa clearly came out of a jar! It was mushy and about three tablespoons worth. An authentic Mexican restaurant with salsa from a jar????? My heart sank. Where's the fresh salsa??? I suspected I was doomed from this point on. And I was.The food finally arrived. Beep. My enchiladas had a pile of lettuce on top of them and were floating in a cold green sauce. No cheese at all. The beans and rice were on a separate plate. The beans were from a can (I started singing the Libby's, Libby's, Libby's song at this point) and the rice appeared to be Minute Rice (yes, it was white; no it wasn't Mexican). My wife's burrito was a huge, cold, flour tortilla filled with lettuce and green peppers and more canned beans. She commented that it had no flavor. Beep.I asked for some hot sauce since ketchup - yes ketchup in a Mexican restaurant - was the only condiment on the table. Oh, except there was a salt shaker but not a pepper shaker. When I requested some type of hot sauce, the waitress brought me a little plastic cup with more green sauce, that same goop my enchiladas were floating in. Beep.Neither of our meals were anywhere close to good. Taco Bell would have been ten times better. And by the way, I never heard back from the waitress on my taco-on-the-side request. Beep. For that matter, I never got a check from the waitress either. I ended up going to the counter to pay so we could finally head home. I'm still looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant nearby. If you like salsa from a jar and beans from a can and loads of lettuce on a tortilla, maybe this is the place for you. Otherwise, trust me. Stay clear. The only reason I gave this restaurant two stars instead of one is that neither of us got sick. We were both a bit concerned about this, but I guess food out of a can is pretty safe.Beep.

my husband and i were in the mood for something different but didnt want to go to a restaurant. we decided to try moe's southwest grill which is kind of hidden in a strip mall behind a car dealership. the traffic in the parking lot is heavy because there is also a wawa there and moe's appears to be very popular.we got the overindulged chicken tacos and we were impressed with how tasty they were. we selected our add-ons which seemed to be unlimited. the 3 tacos were enough for both of us. the bonus in the bag was a bunch of tortilla chips which were light tasty and again enough for both of us and did i say tasty.i cant wait to go back there. if there is a down side to this place, it was the woman who tended the cash register on the day we were there: she was impatient yet there was no one behind us in line; rude when asked a question and the thing that really got us was the huffing and puffing with such exasperation that we almost walked out. my regret was that i did not speak to the manager but we plan to return and if we get the same person with the attitude, we will speak to the manager. i would give them 5 stars on service but the cashier was just too nastythe food was so good that we do plan on returning
