Poco antes de salir de Chiapa de Corzo, se encuentran varios restaurantes, entre estos La Chiapaneca. Es un lugar modesto, casi al pie de carretera, pero ambientado con marimba para compensar el calor de la zona. No comÃ, pero la cerveza es rica .

Simple menu without prices. For those with limited Spanish some of the items include the heart or brain of a pig. I ordered what I thought was pumpkin seed which is a regional specialty but instead got a small plate of pig legs...gross to look at let alone eat...and the price turned out to be 50 pesos. Must be a local delicacy.Worst experience dining in Mexico and I visit frequently.

We stopped in to have a quick bite and ordered the chicken tacos (flautas). They came with dried chicken, zero flavour, smothered in tomato sauce. Not even salt for seasoning. After that failed with the kids, we tried the French fries. Soggy. Although they give you beans, tortilla chips and salsas to start for free. Average at Best Buy not a lot of options in town either.

El Campanario offers a lovely environment with live miramba music. Unfortunately, there aren't any vegetarian selections. They did make me a salad which was made up of sliced cucumbers, tomatoes and radishes. It is impossible to find a true green salad in Chiapa de Corzo. This restaurant serves pozol. This is local drink made from cacao, corn, cinnnamon and water. I would only come back to drink the pozol.

I adore the garden of this hotel: gigantic flowering, frondy plants in a jungle-like setting.The restaurant is perched above this, where you can aid your digestion with a good and inspiring view.What do you digest? If you are lucky, you may arrive there on a morning when they serve a buffet breakfast for a tour group. This includes chicharrones in a green sauce, tamales, eggs a la mexicana or otherwise, chilaquiles, fresh fruit, an excellent coffee with refills and more. On non-tour mornings, you must order a la carte. Dinners and suppers include the typical dishes of Chiapa de Corzo.

Ate a late lunch here as part of a tour group. Nice, attractive interior. Seemed popular with locals who were eating from a nice looking buffet.However, we were offered a very bland set menu which was not that appetising.Service was very brusque and we were charged 45 pesetas for a small glass of beer - more expensive than Mexico City.
