I am a repeat customer of this restaurant and after a pre Christmas night out last year when we experienced poor service, I hastily wrote a review to complain..almost a year on and after several wonderful dining experiences since, I want to compliment all at BlackCat. The staff are superb and very attentive, food is just so delicious, gambas,Calamari, black pudding croquettes are amongst our favourites. Last night although very busy, the staff were on their toes and the buzz and atmosphere were just great...you could tell looking around that everyone was enjoying themselves. This is a cosy wonderful place and a must eat gourmet experience when in Galway...along with many locals you will see visitors from all over the globe. Special thanks to Mai and Esther....looking forward to returning soon.D&D Motley

Located in the historic Bridge Mills building, Il Vicolo is Galway's premiere destination for modern Italian dining. Come in and see the centuries old mill as you nibble on Beef Carpaccio or one of our homemade pastas. Or perhaps sit on Galway's only rive
Four of us had a really enjoyable meal here, having booked the day before after popping in for a drink on the terrace and checking out the menu.We were given a great table by an arched window. We then had a very good focaccia and olives as we looked at the menuThe menu has some great dishes and choosing was difficult. For starters we settled on scallops (perfectly cooked), mussels (succulent with a very rich, creamy sauce). Mains included one of the best pasta (cavatelli) dishes my wife and I had had for a very long time which came with a delicious ragu of two Italian sausages. One of our fellow dinners also had a very good gnocchi dish.Puds were, sadly, out of the question as we were so full given the previous two courses .An interesting and extensive Italian wine list too.Would definitely recommend Il Vicolo.

Situated in the heart of Galway West End is Mona Lisa, a new and authentic Italian Restaurant. Walking through the door you will immediatly feel the mediterranean character and relaxed atmosphere where you can unwind with glass of wine that has been caref
Having read some of the other reviews on here, we expected a more memorable experience than the one we had. And if Mona Lisa is truly better than other Italian restaurants in Galway, then other cuisines would be a better option. Starting with our arrival, and we had made a reservation, there was almost indifference to our presence, and the service, while efficient, was not particularly warm nor friendly. We did observe much more attention and interest on the part of the staff to the patrons at some other tables, who were clearly regulars. But given that food is the central focus for most diners, this is where Mona Lisa falls short. One exception, however, is their pizza. The Margherita was almost memorable. The crust was light, thin and crisp, and the tomato sauce full of flavour. The mozzarella however was rather pedestrian and bland - if buffalo mozzarella had been used it would have been a pretty good menu item. The chicken was rubbery and flavourless and seemed like it has come from a catering supplier. The pasta in the tagliatelle was overcooked and the accompanying sauce uninspiring. I could comment on some of the other dishes selected by our group but none of them stand out. We chose, against our normal habit, not to stay for dessert and coffee, so in fairness can't comment on that part of the meal. But I'd be amazed if Mona Lisa's desserts are anything special. So, to sum up, there is not much to shout about this restaurant, but should you go, you should perhaps stick to the pizzas and calzones, which are probably the safest bet.

We offer a wide range of delicious home style Italian food, from our house made fresh egg pasta, traditional cooking techniques and the freshest of produce available, to our many veal, chicken and seafood dishes, to our popular steaks, and our many entree
We were a walk in party of 3 at 7:30pm on a Wednesday evening and no problem getting a table. All our food was excellent - sea bass, chicken with Gorgonzola, pizza, tiramisu. Service friendly and speedy without being rushed. Definitely a good decision to try this out and we could be back again tomorrow!

Visited high cafe yesterday with a friend and we asked our waitress could we order the pepperoni pizza as from our experience visiting the cafe portions are large and we agreed we would share a meal together.High Cafe allows customers to bring their own booze/beer (BYOB) The waitress informed us that we would have to spend a minimum of â¬15 each in order to drink the bottle of wine we brought with us as.I informed the waitress that I wouldnât eat a full pizza to myself and that could I take the reminder of what wasnât eaten home and she said yes so that was fine with us.Our food arrived promptly and it looked amazing but we couldnât help but be irritated by the waitress who served us. She kept peeping down at us and watching us with a smirk on her face which in turn made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcomeâI counted a total number of 3 times that she called down to our table and asked us if we were finished and did we want our food âput in a bagâ even do we were still eating and deep in conversation. This behaviour ruined our overall experience here at High Cafe and the only thing âHighâ about High Cafe is the highly annoying customer service experience and lack of professionalism. Will not be returning!

Could not recommend a better place for a good glass of wine and nice food! Well done

We are a new Italian restaurant and pizzeria in the central of Galway City. As a family run restaurant, the atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming and family friendly, just like our food! Everything is homemade at Da Paulino's Ristorante Italiano
Family vacation brought us to Galway where we needed a nice change from the usual Irish restaurant meals. We discovered Da Paulinoâs on-line and decided to try it. We all enjoyed the dishes we tried (Garlic bread with mozzarella, Cesar salad, Margarita pizza, Cannoli, pasta with chicken, white wine (owner recommendation), and a Coke.We arrived about 18 minutes before closing and weâre still taken good care of by the owner.Weâre staying in Galway 3 days and will be back for another visit or two before we depart.IF this place was in our hometown it would be our âTo go to Italian restaurant.âWonderful meal and reasonable price.Delizioso!

My husband and I called in here for the first time on Saturday night. The servers were very friendly and helpful. We were promptly seated and well looked after. We had a very very good pizza and a fantastic bowl of seafood pasta that was a huge portion with loads of seafood. Great value and nice chilled atmosphere. We will certainly come back.
