I stay here to be near the in-laws, but I occasionally bring a friend in from Tokyo. The architecture of the Inn and dining areas is fantastic and the sitting rooms overlooking the river really make for a nice respite from a business trip. You may need to pay cash and some Japanese is required. This is off the beaten path and it caters to Japanese looking for a weekend away, business retreat or wedding party. The meals are fantastic. I'd say the breakfast experience rivals some of the best I've ever had. There is also great day hiking if you go up river and cross to the other side of the river and go up the mountain.

We went to this restaurant after an interval of about ten years. After all, it was splendid. Scenery, the staff, interior decoration of the room, the dishes. They were all great. Sure, it is far from Shinjyuku or Shibuya. But it is worth for visiting. All the dishes taste good. We were satisfied very much. I consider that Chikutei is more splendid than Toriyama. It's crowded there, especially during the autumn season. I think that you should make reservations early.
