Another pleasant trip to our favorite sushi restaurant. We had a nice lunch and experimented trying their Crispy Chilled Tuna. Very interesting flavor as it was sashimi over avocado with a slightly salty, pepper, nut topping.Never disappointed here. Highly recommended!

Loved this place. Went to dinner with our boss on the last night of a job we were working on nearby. The food was amazing. Best crab Rangoon I have ever had. Tried six different rolls of sushi and they were all great. Service was very good. Can't wait to go back.

Our family of 5 went here as a special treat. The day before, we made a reservation using OpenTable for 5:30pm on a Saturday. We arrived and were seated within about 5 minutes. We were seated with 5 strangers, because the tables seat 10. The service was very good, and the chef was great. Yes, it's all the same tricks, and it's no Las Vegas-quality production, but we all enjoyed it (especially the kids who were seeing the various tricks for the first time). The food was very well cooked and seasoned. They happily accommodated a vegan in our group by preparing his dish (rice, tofu, mixed vegetables) in the back kitchen and bringing it out separately. All in all, it's a little pricey, but it's for a special occasion, and so would happily return!Thank you for dining with us! We appreciate and value your patronage and hope you will continue to make our restaurants your dining choice.

Typical Japanese style restaurant with good service and food but needs to be updated. Not that crowded the night we went for a birthday celebration and the service still seemed a little slow. The waitstaff seemed to be more focused on group conversation in the kitchen than serving customers. We will try again with higher expectations.

Sushi Ninja

The first time I visited Sushi Ninja was 12 years ago in the old location. I wasn't too impressed with the sushi during that visit. I can't remember why, but I think it had something to do with the eel sauce. Fast forward to today... this doesn't feel like the same place. In fact, it totally exceeded my expectations. It's in a bigger and brighter location where Burger Monger used to be. I love everything that they did to renovate this space. The atmosphere went from a 3 star to a 5 star as soon as they opened up the new location. I was also impressed with the service, and the attention to details.I've been there twice in the last 2 days. I know, we have many great sushi restaurants in the Brandon/Riverview/Valrico area. They're all special in their own way. But this place is unique in that they also have boba milk teas and smoothies, as well as a build your own poke bowl menu. I was so happy to have a milk tea of my choice along with some sushi. There's a huge variety of sushi rolls. Most of them are specialty rolls. There are a lot with cream cheese (if that's your thing). I don't like cream cheese in my sushi rolls, but I'm pretty sure that I can ask for one without it. I ended up selecting the Ninja Lobster Roll. It was pretty awesome! The baked cheesy lobster topping really took it to the next level. The only negative to some people would be that the rolls are small, and maybe rolled more tightly than other sushi rolls I've had in the past. It's not a bad thing IMO. I was actually happy with the smaller pieces. I hate when they roll them too big. I also had eel and salmon nigiri. The issue I had with the eel sauce in the past is totally behind me now. Oh, and I almost forgot about the appetizer. The TNT Mussels are the best I've had in a while. It had a nice mixture of Japanese mayo, wasabi, and masago. Very tasty! Everything tasted great. I liked it so much that I went back for lunch. This was a take away order. This time I got the make your own poke bowl (salmon), the New York Yankee Roll, and an avocado smoothie. What a treat! I loved the house poke sauce and everything that I picked to go into the bowl. My mother liked the fried fish protein in her bowl. Everything blended well together. The sushi roll had my 3 favorite types of fish (tuna, salmon, and escolar). The rolls were small, but it was definitely more fish than rice. Again, it was just rolled more tightly so that it doesn't fall apart. Last but not least, the avocado smoothie was so good. It was sweet, smooth, & creamy. I wasn't expecting that. It was the perfect dessert drink. They totally have me hooked now. I'm looking forward to the next visit. Can't wait to try more sushi rolls like the Mardi Gras and Dancing Eel rolls. Oh, and it's all right here in Bloomingdale Square. This will be an even better plaza once the renovations and newer stores are constructed. Looking forward to all of that too.
