Really enjoyed this restaurant/izakaya. Large Manu spanning from yakitori, sashimi, to Japanese/ Chinese food, but I think the main thing here is a soup dish called Houtou. Miso based noodle soup with bunch of vegetables including pumpkin. I liked the Chicken Abalone one. A local hangout.

小作と言う有名なほうとう屋さんに行こうとしたら満席で２時間くらい待たなくてはいけなかったので、どうしようかと悩んでいた時に、ワイナリーで頂いた冊子にこちらの果王里のページを見て行く事に。全く期待していなかったのですが、古民家風の一軒家で中に入ると地元の方ばかりと言う感じでコレはもしやとても美味しいお店では？と。メニューはなくて、ほうとうのみ。種類もありません。ほうとうのみ。笑っ。初めてほうとうを食べましたが、家庭のお母さんか作ってくれる優しい味で、野菜の味も濃くて身体に良いもの食べてる感じがしました。他のほうとうを知らないので比べられませんが、満腹、満足しましたよ。

It is to the left side of the main hall of Budo no Oka, a more traditional Japanese eatery providing local specialties, also associated with grapes. We had sukiyaki and noodle. The sukiyaki beef was seasoned by local red wine. The thick noodle was hand-made, with grape peel juice, delicious and beautiful. We also ordered fresh grape juice and icecream with local grape jam. Bravo.

たまたま通りかかって入りました。立派なお宅を改装してお店にされた様子で、和室から池のあるお庭を見ながら食事が出来ます。メニューはほうとうのみ。舞茸ご飯も追加注文出来ます。美味しかったけど、ほうとうにしてはちょっと高いかな。

とても素敵な庭のある、かなり立派な古民家でいただく「ほうとう」です。 味も良いし、お値段も手ごろなのですが 特筆すべきは、巨大なエアコンとテーブルに一つずつある扇風機。 ほうとう、鉄の鍋だから、かなり熱いです。 冬でもかなり汗が出ますし、夏は絶対に食べたくない。 ところが、ここは、そのエアコンと扇風機のおかげで、とても快適な環境で、夏でもほうとうがいただける。 うどんやほうとうは、B級グルメだから(?)、客席にまで気を使っていない店がほとんどです。 これほど気配りのしてある店は他にはまずないでしょう。

We were heading back towards isawa onsen after grape picking and visiting the wine center nearby. Saw a lot of cars coming in and out of this old japanese house, and decided to stop by. The restaurant serves mainly houtou noodles and horse sashimi. We ordered the houtou noodles, normal size ( there are bigger size if you are into houtou noodles). Im not a fan of thick noodles( these are similar to udon but flatter),but taste wise, the broth was good. The ambiance of this place was nice, set in an old 130 year old japanese house.just be prepared to wait long for your houtou, as cooking time seems to take quite a while.
