After ferrying over from Hulhumale to explore Male, I needed a break from the heat and came upon this place. What captured my attention were the beautiful doors from the street entry into a courtyard type setting. It certainly had a European vibe. I settled at my table under a ceiling fan and was promptly addressed by a waiter. His English was decent and he was an affable young man. He took my order, then repeated it and very shortly thereafter my tomato and cheese toasted sandwich arrived. Hard to mess up such a simple order!! The toasting process sealed the bread's edges which made for an interesting presentation. The sandwich has mini al cheeses and one slice of a small tomato. It was ok. Chili sause and ketchup were also provided. The visit served its intended purpose and i was on my was. Total cost for the sandwich and club soda---57MVR.

Wide variety of items on the menu including common continental dishes. All items were under seasoned perhaps intentionally. Dishes were mediocre in taste. Prices are steep considering practically all ingredients cannot be regionally sourced. A big let down when it came to taste although presentation was beautiful. The interior space, design and seating options were many with sofa and highchair dining tables.Staff are polite, attentive and friendly.

This venue was recommended by several people when asking about sky bars (non existent due to no alcohol in Male).This place has indoor dining on 6th floor for bad weather, and rooftop with minimal shelter.While the service was very good, and the views great for some snap shots, you could smell the sea and fuel fumes, even the fruit and vegetable market below. Not too strong, but over an hour or so and the more sensitive nose would prefer to dine downstairs on the 6th.We ordered pasta options and the wait was considerable, but well worthwhile.Both dishes were large, well presented and very tasty!We had been told there was a better (cheaper) rooftop option by a local, but we were so glad we stuck with Salt.Highly recommended.Thank you for visiting Salt Cafe & Restaurant. Pizzas are amazing. Love the variety of flavors and crust options. Love the hand tossed crispy golden thin crusts AND thick crusts are also light and airy. Great delivery service as well. Honey garlic chicken wings & garlic bread is perfect for takeout with pizza. Also, the peanut butter milkshake is heavenly. This small cafe' is also good for celebrations & you can book in advance. The location is also perfect with a good view, easy parking and just across the China-Maldives friendship bridge.
