Very nice restaurant with typical dishes from the area, accessible by car or a (longer) walk from Ascona. Especially recommendable for an early dinner on a hot day, just great to sit under big trees and still see the sun shining on the opposite hillside...Price/value ratio is also very good.

We have been to this Grotto for dinner on a sunday eve (18:45).. we did not have a reservation but still got a table directly... we ordered sparerips and roast beef with typical polenta.. a nice small bottle of Amarone wine and big bottle of water and later Tiramisu and maroni cake with ice cream for dessert... everything was tasty and the service/staff very quick and attentive... finally bit pricey with about 140 CHF... but at the end of the day it was a nice evening in a nice location .... we will come again

This was an all-around pleasing experience. The staff speak all kinds of languages very well, are very helpful and forthcoming. The menu is unreal! There is all kinds of fine food, and the off-menu dishes of the day are even better! I could not recommend this place more!

My wife and I had a terrific lunch in all regards. The service was prompt, attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The setting on the terrace with the view across Lago Maggiore and the general ambience were very nice as well. However, the excellent food is the real star. We each chose to have the three-course menu, which had been recently set for autumn. We found each of our dishes to be excellent: rabbit liver pate, hazelnut-encrusted venison, and peach tarte with caramel ice cream. Weâre currently planning when will be our next visit.Dear travelin-tommy, warm thanks for your great review. We are happy you had a terrific experience at our restaurant. Besides our daily changing 4-course menu, we have a quiet large menu card which we adapt about every 3 months, according to the season. The autumn menu card, which proposes also game, has just been set in the beginning of September and you were the first to taste it We are looking forward to seeing you soon again at the Collinetta for one more tasty lunch or dinner. Weâve been to Grotto La Risata to taste the typical dishes of the region. Couldnât be more satisfied!! The entire experience was stunning from the moment we stepped in. Perfect location, wonderful outside terrace, good ambience and cheerful owner. Average prices, surely worth it. Definitely recommended!!

From outside not fancy, but inside is nicely done. The chef and his wife, who serves and greets, put their hearts into it. Many local specialties which vary alittle by season are carefully prepared and served. A good wine list lets you order something which complements - making it an overall delicious and enjoyable experience. It is not so fancy- schmanzy as some places in nearby Ascona, but every bit as good and more reasonably priced.

I discovered this awesome place thanks to my political family and I only can say the visit was amazing. Top, sher gut, ottimo, very good! So beautiful place, everything was good, aboveall the local kitchen and service. In this place you can also eat the fondue chinoise of fish (differents kind of fish), i never did that. Place for eveyone, lovers and teams of eaters.
