Find out what Italian restaurants to try in Ambergris Caye. Ambergris Caye hovers in a vacation sweet spot: just enough amenities to make it exciting, but not so overdeveloped that you’re tripping over flip-flopped tourists. A mangrove swamp is the eye of this white beach island, the largest in Belize, and golf carts are the main form of transportation along the sandy roads. Reef divers drool over the Belize Barrier Reef and the Blue Hole, a 400-feet deep circle of limestone that teems with angelfish, elkhorn coral, cleaner shrimp and stalactites.

I am a frequent trip advisor reviewer but had read nothing about this restaurant before I walked in the door. At first glance I was not impressed. The decor inside was nice but it was very warm inside and it was already humid night. But the restaurant had wifi (a big plus for a solo person) and the feel of this place was distinctly casual which I wanted. I order the lasagna bolognese which comes with homemade focaccia bread and I was stunned. This was the best lasagna I had ever eaten (I have traveled through Italy many times). It was rich and creamy and well seasoned, all the flavors evident. And the bread, well it was magical with the lasagna but the owners also provide you with Chile infused olive oil that makes the bread a dish unto itself. The cost was 36Belize for the dinner and a bottle of water. Very reasonable for clearly homemade dish. I plan on returning for dinner again tonight. Usually top rated trip advisor restaurants look more upscale than this place did. It is truly a classic hole-in-the-wall place with the great food to match.

With the whole family tired after a long day of snorkeling and exploring on a charter boat, we decided to order pizza for delivery from PepperOni's. It took a few tries to reach someone on the phone, but when I did, they took our order and said it would be less than 30 minutes. I thought that sounded a little fast for an island that is mostly limited to golf cart travel. It ended up taking over an hour for our pizza to be delivered. However, when it did arrive, it was hot and fresh. Great crust and the sauce was excellent. We would definitely recommend trying this place out for delivery, just allow extra time for your order to arrive.

Romantic and stylish restaurant and bar overlooking the Caribbean Sea, offering lovingly prepared contemporary dishes with an emphasis on local seafood and organically grown vegetables, fruits and herbs from our own gardens, exceptional personal service,
We stayed at Matachica so ate every breakfast and several lunches and dinners there during our week there. The breakfasts are delicious: you want to opt for the home made tortilla instead of toast on meals with that option; get a fruit plate too, you won't be disappointed. They made their eggs every way, their waffles were very tasty too. The only thing I did not love was the coffee, but that may be more a function of what I am used to having than anything else. For lunch the salads were excellent (my husband raved about the jerk chicken caesar salad), as was the blackened grouper sandwich, the fish and chips and the snapper or skewers. For appetizers we had the mambo carpaccio (divine!), vegetarian spring roll (very tasty!), and calamari (delicious!). For dinner, we tried the crab-stuffed grouper, the Slow Roasted Lime Grouper (my favorite), the whole snapper (simple but excellent). And the desserts were great - I preferred the caramel flan and key lime pie, but the chocolate souffle (really a mini molten lava cake) was also very good. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that it was considerably more expensive than most other restaurants in the area, and that if you stay a week you wish there was more on the menu (any lobster dish is only served during lobster season).
