Having been in Olomouc for some time and nearly two decades living in the Czech Republic it is rare to find a Manager who really gets it right so consistently - and has managed to find a team to keep up the standards! It is a place where I can go for a quick drink or a decent coffee even, use the WiFi, plug in a laptop and get some work done in peace and quiet during the day. Lunch is excellent, a more expensive 'chef's choice' is offered alongside the lunch menu at really great prices which wipe the floor with most of the local competition - especially when it comes to service, plating of the dish/presentation and ingredients. Still pub food but proper food food! Haven't had a proper dinner yet so can't comment but it is another reason to return! Michal, the Manager, has done a fantastic job in making friends and I feel like long term customers even though the place is recently opened. Oh and by the way, dessert, coffee and home lemonade is all excellent too - beer it goes without saying is pulled properly and tastes great. They even have a small but excellent selection of spirits at really decent prices, the Botanist keeps any gin drinker happy too! Oh and as a side note, it is great to see the place is so perfectly clean and tidy, toilets brand new and in great shape etc - there is definite pride shown in the new place! I was in the town for 2 weeks and we ate there five times, the food is excellent and the service is impecible. They do have an English menu but make you have to ask for it. I prefer sitting in the square but the artwork inside is beautiful as well.Thank You Very Much ...We Look Forward to Your Next Visit!

If I could I'd give Konvikt a 3+ score; a bit better than average but not quite very good. The good-my mushroom risotto was delicious, the service staff was pleasant and efficient, English menus available, the terrace dining was lovely. The not so good- my husband's schnitzel was chewy and fatty, the blueberry dumplings seemed undercooked and gummy, prices are a bit higher and the portions smaller than elsewhere in Olomouc.

If you are not a meat lover and would like to eat tasty, healthy and fine - you will truly enjoy their salads, ravioli, minestrone, risotto (risotto with porcini was the best Iâve ever had).. and yeah Iâve been to Italy many times and have a high standard for Italian cuisine - here they have got a really nice replica. By the way first came in here breakfast and they surprised me with quality butter croissant and truly good strawberry tea - that is the reason I decided to give it a try for lunch. You will enjoy the interior (the outside of the building is stylish too), service is nice - in all - a pleasure - will sure come back for more

Dreadful lighting (too bright) and relentless techno music really detracted from the food. An interesting restaurant in a bad location. My companion watched an endless stream of trucks on the motorway and I watched a live billboard. Ten different styles of lighting meant the room was very bright, which matched the techno music. Maybe Central Europe is too glitzy for Australians. The five course tasting menu was overall good - three great courses and two so-so, but by Australian standards five courses with wine pairing for two people for around $250- was great value. Very strange location - above a very smoky casino - and by a major motorway.
