We made a stop here for some beer and a bite. We had the selection of tapas. I never thought it was possible to be so creative with potatoes. All the tapas were amazing. We will definitely return here for dinner.

This cozy cafe, with indoor and terrace dining, is located on Veemarktstraat, near the market square in Breda. Their specialty - tostis! A tosti is similar to the French 'croque monsieur' - 2 slices of bread, with fillings between, toasted or grilled. A delicious 'toasted sandwich', great for a light meal or snack.Here you'll find mouth-watering tostis served by friendly staff. Their eye-catching, unique menu stands out. They offer a wide choice of tosti fillings (both savoury and sweet), different types of bread and sauces, hot and cold beverages as well as dessert. Further, they offer vegan tostis (a plus for vegans and those looking for a vegetarian alternative). Personally, I enjoyed their chicken tex-mex wholemeal bread tosti served with sliced cucumber on the side accompanied by truffle mayonnaise sauce. A crunchy crust on the outside with flavourful fillings - definitely a temping treat. Helpful staff, nice atmosphere. An interesting feature is their tosti cellar/basement. Guests will find swings for those who want to try a different type of seating. We had the six course chef's tasting menu and each was more incredible than the last. From the amuse-bouche to the gorgeously presented dessert, our taste buds were dancing all night. What made the experience most special, though, was the warm and attentive service by our waiter. He could not have done a better job. We each have some dietary restrictions and I don't normally eat very much at all, but we weren't made to feel as though this was an annoyance for him or for the chef. On the contrary, they seemed genuinely happy to accommodate us. Highly recommend this place...what a fantastic surprise.

Mon épouse et moi même avons la soixantaine et nous sommes très souvent sur la route pour nos voyage car nous aimons çà !!!!Mais alors ici cela sort du commun , pas un sourire à la caisse , un personnel froid qui ne se préoccupe pas de ces clients , impossible d'avoir une explication , soit une adresse à évité !!!!!

We had really negative experience there. The restaurant that is already quite expensive charged us 12.90 euro for still water from a jar that they boast they get from the local deep water reservoir! And can you imagine a limoncello for 8.90 euro per portion?! It is not in the menue and thus we couldn't know the price until we asked the waiter that is not a really convenient practice.And in general the food was not worth the money. Might be Michelin critics find those tastes interesting but I guess it is not what regular customers seek for.

This was an unexpected wonderful experience at Taste! The restaurant is indeed located at the same address as the Mercure Hotel but is not just a hotel restaurant. From start to finish this was one of the best restaurant experiences in the past year. The welcome, the choice of cocktails, and then Dinner (with a capital D)! We selected the 6 course surprise diner with wine pairing suggested by the sommelier Kees Verlaan. Even with a wine that was developed by himself (Taste! Wine by Kees Verlaan).While enjoying our cocktail drinks some small starters were served. Real great looks and real good Taste! This continued the rest of the evening. From really unique ways of presentation as well as the food quality: excellent. Maybe the portions were a little big sometimes for a 6 course. Besides the food, everything which is being served comes with a small explanation about origin (wines of course, but how often do you get background info of the olive oil in other restaurants... here they put pride in what they do... just enjoy). All for a more than acceptable price.The location in the basement does not have great views but has a real nice atmosphere and we have never been missing a view... but in summer time (they told us) they seem to open the outdoor dining at the 5th floor with a magnificent view of the city center, as they explained.Conclusion: we probably will end up being "regular" guests.Dear GerardV754,Thank you very much for sharing your experience on Tripadvisor! A rather wonderful dining experience that you will not forget.Not your average restaurant, and you may only visit once or a few times, but you will not forget.Great location and property, done out exceptionally well, really friendly staff and they know their wines.We enjoyed a 10 course meal, starting with a fruity dish to get your pallet sorted followed by fish, duck and other courses before the sweets.Lovely evening, great food highly recommended.

Ach de reputatie van de v.d. Valk restaurants is toch al enige decennia bekend en daarom worden de vestigingen met de grote toekan door ons zo veel mogelijk gemeden. Dan maar liever een salade van McD. of gewoon een frietje van het lokale frietkot. Steeds vaker kwamen we echter mensen tegen die gewag maakten van structurele verbetering bij het v.d. Valk concern en zelfs van mensen die melding maakten van een smakelijke maaltijd. Uiteindelijk besloten we ook voor een snelle maaltijd het er dan toch maar weer, na tien jaar, op te wagen en warme maaltijd te nemen. (Een broodje in de hal was bij een eerdere gelegenheid ook niet slecht bevallen). Wel waren we enigszins bevooroordeeld dus hadden we afgesproken iets te nemen waar weinig risico aan zat. Mijn tafelgenoot een schnitzeltje en ik een biefstukje. (dat moet toch iedere leerling op de Rooi Pannen kunnen maken). De serveerster vroeg of ik mijn biefstuk medium wilde. Toen ik uitlegde dat ik de voorkeur gaf aan saignant en dat dat tussen rare en medium in zat keek ze al met een blik van "medium dus, zeikert" Mijn tafelgenote wilde bijhaar schnitzel wel zigeunersaus mits die apart zou worden geserveerd (ze had een voorgevoel)Mijn keurig gekoelde flesje spa blauw, waar de dauwdruppel op parelden,....werd voor de helft leeggeschonken in een glas dat recht uit de vaatwasmachine kwam en een temperatuur had van ongeveer 80 graden. Dan blijft spa niet lang fris. De soep voldeed aan de verwachting. Als je maar vooral niet te veel verwacht valt het niet snel tegen. Ik had mijn verwachting voor de bereiding van mijn biefstuk ook al bijgesteld naar een medium, op z'n best a point. Alleen in het allerbinnenste was nog een beetje rose vlees te herkennen de rest was gewoon grijs. Als de serveerster iets later was geweest was de garing bien cuit geweest. En de schnitzel? Nou die dreef zo ongeveer in een zigeunersaus waardoor nergens aan het stukje vlees nog maar één krokant stukje korst viel te bekennen. En de serveerster? Die was in het half lege restaurant niet meer te bekennen zodat we toch maar zijn gaan eten. Toen ze eindelijk kwam vragen of alles naar wens was geweest hadden we geen zin meer om serieus te klagen. We hadden ons weer kapotgelachen en het leek nog net als tien jaar geleden het meest op Fawlty Towers. Ik heb nog een grapje gemaakt over warme Spa maar ja dat snapte ze niet.Gelukkig vroeg de serveerster niet of we nog een dessert wilden gebruiken of koffie wilden drinken. Sinds het "broodje" van de chef bij restaurant Akersloot (met kip en chips) in 2000 (wat ook daadwerkelijk een broodje met vleeswaar(kip) en een zakje Croky was) hadden we niet meer zo gelachen bij v.d. Valk.

I ve been for two consecutive dinners with my girlfriend in this restaurant, the first day we got a starter, seafood based nothing of special.The main course was three different kind of '' fresh'' fish'', the problem was that the only one recognizable taste was butter and it was littirally disgusting me, the second evening we Didn't want go to this restaurant again but we were tired after all day at efteling and so unfortunately decide again for it. We decided for the main course with 3 kinds of meat served on a hot stone, and again tasting Just of butter and again disgusting me. The restaurant look nice but what I got was just tasting as butter, I don't suggest this place.
