Le restaurant pakistanais

After 3 weeks of delicious French food, we were ready for a change. Le Restaurant Pakistanais provided us with an equally good meal (although obviously different) at a very reasonable price. The owner spoke excellent English, making ordering a breeze. The food was authentic and well-prepared and the portion sizes were ample. So, if you need a change of pace, this is a great place to eat.

An enjoyable meal in an old school curry house (maison de la curry?). Brightly coloured paper and jewelled cloths created a charming Indian atmosphere long since considered naff in UK but I still like it and the sitar music mellow in the background. The food was tasty and the set meal was good value. The beers were unfortunately Not! At €6 each for Indian and €4 each for a small bottle I'd advise to stick with water! The staff were polite and helpful and would interject with English if one's French is failing. It does get busy so perhaps best to book ahead if you can.

My wife and I came across let Salinas on a Sunday stroll around old chartres town. We earmarked as a possible for our evening meal. On return to our hotel we checked ked it out on tripadvisor and we saddened to see such good reviews. We have just returned and I an safely say that it was as good a curry meal as I can remember. There were some differences to what we expect in England but that did not detract from wonderfully cooked and presented foodIt was far from the chilli heat we have become used to but the flavours were authentic and subtle.Very good value. It was fairly quiet but Chartres on an early September Sunday evening seemed almost deserted ALL the restaurant s were quit.

Just so you know, there is no alcohol sold here. However, I personally have never had Indian food with wine or even beer, so it was not a problem. With that aside, this place was such a treat for us that we went back twice for lunch. The food had great flavor, and they provided atchar and chutney on request, as well as "hot" sauce, which elevated the spice factor a little without overpowering flavors. They have chai, or spiced milk tea, and mango laasi. The service was attentive and English speaking if you need that. Plus, it's a pretty good bargain to eat family style (we shared two dishes, rice and naan for 2 people). It was a nice break from the French bistro menu.
