El Parian Mexican Food

Reviewed By 50StateVisitor - Randolph, New Jersey

El Parian's menu offers standard Mexican fare at affordable prices. My Chimichanga lunch combo was a good sized portion that came with salad, guacamole, rice and beans; it pleased me. Their salsa was too watery; that displeased me. The food came out quickly after ordering and the waiter was attentive. We were in and out in record time for lunch. It was the best of 3 places we tried in White Hall.

The quality of DQ food has improved and everyone enjoyed their food!! My flame burger, a #2, was very good. The problem was service and LONG delay in getting ice cream. Several of meals came with a ice cream dessert. We notified the counter we were ready and took over 10 minutes to get the mini blizzards. Other tables that ask later were served first!!

There are not too many places in and around White Hall/Pine Bluff Arkansas that deserve the rating I gave this little hidden gem on Hwy 270. The rating I gave it was based on the merits of its food, not as a comparison of all the other crappy places to eat in that area. I would say that having their food fresh and served right there in the restaurant was better than take out - but that is a true statement for all take out dinners, in my humble opinion.

We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Not many choices right off the interstate and this one looked 'better' than the other one across the street. We ordered the fried catfish with baked potato and coleslaw. The portions were large and lightly breaded. Also came with an order of hush puppies (YUM) and cold iced tea. Super meal for super price. Glad we chose this restaurant!! The staff very friendly and courteous and efficient. Thanks

The staff were very pleasant on my short trip. I was greeted as I walked in which is always nice. I was going to stay to eat but on my visit they were playing Christmas music (November 16th) which is a huge no-no to me but I won't mark them down for that as a lot of people enjoy celebrating early. It's difficult to actually see anyone behind the counter as you walk in as there are displays of cakes and loaves (which they bake in-house), you have to go round to the left side to order. I would have to say it would create a better flow if the pay/order counter was facing you as you walked in, again just my opinion. Very clean with plenty of tables. It's on the far right end of a very nice strip of 4 businesses all in the same log cabin theme. I purchased the chipotle chicken salad sandwich with vegetable sticks which was great. Very tasty. I like the old English touch of laying the sandwich on a newspaper wrapper, replete with crossword, just like we used to have our fish 'n chips in. I will say it's not cheap, my sandwich was $8.95, not expensive per se but this is Pine Bluff remember. Getting people to pay $9 for a sandwich here when they can get a burger for a $1 from a fast food joint is a tough sell. I hope they stay around as Pine Bluff is desperately short of decent places to eat and this is a fine establishment. I will pass it on to my fellow workers/friends. I hope to return soon.

Your choices are limited in White Hall, but thankfully there are a couple of good options for you if you want to dine out with sit-down service and the ability to order a cocktail. Ameca fits the bill on all counts.

The menu contains typical Mexican fare (enchiladas, tacos, burritos, fajitas, quesadillas, et al). The chicken dishes are quite good, and use big chunks of real chicken breasts (versus shredded meat, which I frankly can't stand and don't trust). The guacamole is freshly-made, with just enough spices.

Our go-to meal is the larger fajitas order, which comes out piping hot on a cast-iron skillet with the proper amount of veggies and meat.

The service is exceptional. Everyone is bi-lingual and seems genuinely happy to serve you. I like that.

The manager is also quite hands-on, and quick with a hello and a smile as well.

If you want very good Mexican food at a very fair price, with excellent service, look no further than Ameca!

If you are looking for quantity, Larry's is an ok alternative. If you are looking for quality, keep looking. Occasionally we get pizzas for busy late nights at work. For that, Larry's is passable. For dining purposes, wow, I can think of few outing more disappointing. Crust is tasteless. Toppings are sparse and taste like they came out of a freezer. Take your daughter's softball team there, but take your significant other somewhere else.
