Blake's Pharmacy & Soda Shop

Reviewed By TwotimesMommy

We drove out from Cincinnati to try this place. Beautiful drive. The soda fountain is back in the corner not visible when you come in. There are only about 10 bar stool seats so space is very limited. I was disappointed with the menu selection as there are only a few options. Ham and cheese, tuna salad, chicken salad and a cheese sandwich. None are cooked. The options are bread or toasted, then you get chips for the side. The ham and cheese is good, however, and the prices are unbeatable. I noticed there were lots of "to go" orders as people ordered and took out. The malts and the shakes were so good. We at 5 of us with sandwiches, cokes and 4 shakes for $15. WOW. Definitely worth checking out.

BK Scoop

Reviewed By J5649CFmichaelt - Middletown, Ohio

While traveling to SW Oh. we once again visited BK Scoop. This has actually been our 10th time over the years. This is one of our favorite hot dog establishments. Antiques, wooden floors, old soda fountain make this a really neat place to eat. Now how many hot dog places offer, a "dog" with baked beans, slaw, sour cream, or anything else you could imagine. I actually try something different each time we go. To be honest, some of the ingredients offered for toppings do not appeal to my taste buds UNTIL I try them. MMMM! Whether you order an Ohio dog or a Texas dog, you are pretty much assured a tasty treat. The building has been used for many businesses over the years, 65yrs ago it was a gas station. BK is owned by two of the friendliest, kind people you will ever meet. This just adds to the experience. Growing up in a small community and now for many years living in the city most time what the small communities offer which is very seldom experienced in the large cities is, a genuine kindness and down to earth people.

I always eat here when I come home. I love Frisch's Big Boy. They have great food at a great price with good, friendly service. The restaurant is also quite clean with comfortable seating and they even have a back room for meetings and larger gatherings. Their breakfast bar is excellent and besides the morning they offer it every Tuesday evening from 5-9.

Snappy Tomato Pizza

Reviewed By DianeV670 - West Union, Ohio

Snappy's is located mid-block, across from the back of the Court House on Mulberry Street. You'll find good, non-greasy, mildly spicy pizza and baked spaghetti. There is more on the menu that I have not tried. There's nothing approaching gourmet in town, but Snappy's is a tasty, reliable choice. You won't leave hungry. You can eat in the small, basic seating area (sometimes very crowded, sometimes vacant) or carry out. They deliver within a certain radius. If you are too far away, they can meet you at a delivery point. Alcoholic beverages are not served at any restaurant in town. There is another location in Seaman.

We had a group of 6 for lunch. Place not crowded. We ordered cheeseburgers, discounted as the Tuesday Special. They were very robust and pleasing. Cooked to order, a tad more done than I am used to from St. Louis, MO. Side salad was fresh with good variety in it. My brother had the french fries and rated them highly. Others had lunch size salads, chicken, etc. Zero complaints.

The place started about 214 years ago, but with about 60 years of that as a series of small shops rather than a restaurant. Andrew Jackson, General Santa Ana, and Senator Thomas Hart Benton all visited. Because of the hiatus as a restaurant, the potential charm of a 200 year old restaurant is muted, though it is decorated with a number of antiques.

Very friendly for gluten-free. Service was attentive and accurate.

Mikey's Family Restaurant & Lottery

Stopped here for lunch while traveling . Not fancy but the food was great and lots of it. The prices are very reasonable. A lot of locals must hang out in there and with 2 tables of older men gabbing near by sure made us think it was more of a "hen party". Would stop there again if in the area.

Stopped at the very small town of West Union, Ohio last Friday and ate supper at Giovanni's. This was an extremely pleasant surprise for dining. The pizza was probably one of the best I've ever eaten- the crust was incredible! The service was great, going far beyond what you could expect from a pizza shop. The restaurant also has a nice little game room off to side for the kids to play in. Overall a really nice place to visit. If you want a great weekend- go to Ohio's Adams County Amish country, visit the stores and farms, check out the Underground Railroad history, and finish it off with a great pizza!

This is a great place to order food from. The portions are great, food quality is great & the price is great too. the only downside is there's no indoor seating & they only have certain things on certain days. They have the pulled pork every day they are open though & it's well worth it. A dinner with either pulled pork sandwich, 6 ribs, or smoked chicken with 2 sides is only $8! The sweet tea is also great! I recommend the potato salad & fries as sides. The fries are almost like a fair fry. They also have a FB page where they post what they are having most weeks.
