The Poplar Inn

When we visit relatives in West Bend, we always try to get to the Poplar Inn for a memorable dinner. The inside of the restaurant is fine, but for a more eclectic experience in warm weather, definitely choose outdoor seating in a delightful setting at tables with red umbrellas in a garden atmosphere. The four of us all ordered from the Lighter Fare menu. The butternut squash ravioli per se is good, but with cranberries, pecans and fried spinach mixed in the sauce the entree is kicked up a notch to truly gourmet dining. The Canadian Whitefish entree is another great choice. It is panko coated and accompanied by wild rice and veggies. For a pre entree choice, try their savory gazpacho. The wine list by the glass has some out of the ordinary choices that paired well with the meals we had.

The manager, Al, and everyone on his crew always give friendly, prompt, personal service. He is also a big supporter of the local schools, displaying student artwork in the shop, and participating in coffee sale fundraisers. Daily specials for various groups (students, School district staff, etc.). Freshly ground beans, great tasting coffee; why go to that "other" place?

Toucan's is an old fashioned diner type restaurant. Burgers, fries, sandwiches, and the best ice cream treats! There is a Friday fish fry that is very good. Inside seating, and outside seating. This is a seasonal place.

Riverside Brewery & Restaurant

Reviewed By Dick R - Baraboo, United States

Atmosphere was quiet and friendly because of our early visit. The service was efficient as customary. The paninis that we ordered were a matter of concern. Past experience with the same ordered item told us of a portion control issue. The usual serving of sliced prime rib has been around 1/2 inch thick. Our portion on this visit were about equivalent to a slice of bacon.

This is a true gem to be found in one's search for the Wisconsin "Supper Club" that hits all marks for: atmosphere (Northwood/Cottage); food, service, and hospitality- all exceptional. This is a "must do" restaurant if you're looking for the "whole package". While this wasn't one of the best meals we've ever had in a restaurant, it was one of the best dining experiences due to the atmosphere, service, and hospitality. We'll definitely return with friends/family in the future.

Stopped in while we were in town to play Erin Hills. Had a solid dinner involving their various fish dishes (fish tacos, crab cakes, and a dang good Grilled Salmon), and a couple beverages. Friendly customers, friendly staff (heck, this is just a friendly state)(other than their Governor, that is, but I digress...), had a wonderful server named Emily. Would definitely come back here

I don't know what I expected when my husband and I planned a date here, but what we got was not it. Our experience was way better! The place has a super cool/fun vibe! The waitstaff was energetic and friendly! The service was great! The old fashioneds we got were tasty! The food was Delish! I will say I got one of the thicker noodle dishes and the texture was not what I expected and I was thinking there would be more broth. But...I didn't ask...I just assumed. Caught me off guard. But....the dish was still super tasty! My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised with our visit and plan to come back! Thanks for great food and great service! Two thumbs up!

My son took me here for fish. The restaurant is out in the middle of nowhere. Very homey interior. Very friendly staff. Food is good and food quality. Had the Arctic Cod is was very large pieces. Breaded and fried. Taste was good. We also had duck bites. They were tasty and crispy fried. I would recommend both items. Very nice place.
