This restaurant isn't centrally located with respect to the Novgorod's area most visited by tourists. In fact, if we have identified it, this is due to the advice of our guidebook. Advice that proved invaluable: during the fifteen days of our trip through Russia, this was one of the best, if not the best at all, restaurant experience..
The cod fillet breaded and baked stands out among the food we tasted (all three of us ordered this dish). As a starter we asked for the house salad, with the ubiquitous beet; and a '"Olivia" salad too.
Acceptable even the coffee, both espresso and American. Bill, all inclusive, of 3195 rubles, very fair for the food quality.
Don't overlook finally the refined decor of the restaurant, inspired by a Russian bourgeois house of the XIXth century

During my visit from New York City to Russia's most beautiful, picturesque and historically rich city of Velikij Novgorod I was fortunate enough to visit the restaurant complex Fregat Flagman, which is built in a shape of the ship. I have yet to see such exquisite design which is unique in it's originality and yet preserves greatly the spirit of Russia! From the moment you walk the stairs to the ship to the way you are treated by the waiters you are surrounded by high level of class and sophistication. You can literally spend your entire day here, by starting at the top level on deck . Treat yourself to a traditionally Russian shish kebab and mouth watering baby pig ribs and enjoy the panoramic view of the historical part of the city. Move to the second level and taste delicious sushi and seafood. And finish you night at the club on the groung level, where you can dance the night away to the modern music as well as Russian pop. To conclude I'd like to add that the restaurant complex is fairly priced and is kids friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone-it's worth seeing. I will surely put it on my list during the next visit

Went as a group for dinner. As other reviews have mentioned lovely atmosphere. Service was professional but very slow. Took a long time for our meals to arrive however once they did the food was faultless. Wine was rather expensive at $90 but pasta and pizzas were very cheap and offset . As good as you will get Italian outside of Italy

The restaurant is a short walk from the Kremlin and is well worth a visit. Inside it is modern with attentive staff, a few of whom spoke English. We had 2 medium pizzas and a bottle of wine which came to around £30. The pizzas were good, thin crust, plenty of toppings. The wine was served a little warm but didn't detract from the overall experience.

We visited Novgorod on a day trip from St.Petersburg. After spending the morning at Vitoslavlitsi Museum we caught the bus back to the Kremlin, & based on Tripadvisor reviews went in search of La Chatte. It was further than we thought, a good 30 minute walk. Although you can walk alongside the river for most of the way, which is more pleasant than the main road. The food was good Italian & reasonably priced, & the service was very efficient. Our only thoughts were.....was it worth an hour walking, or could we have found something comparable nearer the Kremlin.

We ate here twice while in Veliky Nogorod (it was close to our hotel).
Service was good and friendly with sufficient English.
The menu had a good range of European dishes (although not all dishes were available when we ate there).
The food was good and well presented.
The atmosphere is pleasant and improves when the restaurant is fuller.
As with most restaurants in Russia currently, the prices were very reasonable.

This place is very popular with local people. Kolobok is a fairy tale character who made of dough. The self-service restaurant is specialized in cheap hot cakes and you can take here russian style lunch too (also cheap and tasty)

It doesn't look like much from outside but inside it's pretty and welcoming. It's very popular so I would suggest booking if you can. The menu is extensive and I was very impressed with everything we ordered.Thanks for your feedback. We hope to see you in Veliky Novgorod and our restaurant again.

Nice café with big choice of food, good choice of local spirit herb and berry drinks, soups awesome. Very cheap prices, but..... for hot food you need to wait about an hour !!!!!!! especially on dinner time and meat dishes reach of oil. The busiest time in café around 7 p.m. when you can`t take a seat.
