Famous for its pivotal role in the Revolutionary War, Trenton is a city steeped in history, boasting several museums and monuments, including the Old Barracks Museum, the country's only remaining British Barracks. But Trenton is not only for the history buff; sports fans will enjoy cheering on minor league baseball and hockey teams while art aficionados will enjoy the many galleries and the 35-acre Grounds for Sculpture park, as well as a number of theaters and auditoriums.

Great meal after a business trip here. The pasta dish I had - spaghetti bolognese, was large, full of flavor and very good. The decor is pretty fancy, although the building is unassuming. The service was a bit slow, but it's not somewhere to go if you are in a hurry.

This was my first visit to this lovely restaurant. My family celebrated my mother's birthday here and we were not disappointed. The service was friendly and professional. The dining room was clean and decorated with beautiful holiday décor. The food was unbelievable. The steak melted in my mouth. The veal chop was done to perfection and the seafood could not have been fresher. Highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning again!

First time visit and found parking difficult. Street parking was all blocked of by temporary police order so that made it even more difficult.

The ambience is really nice inside, although we were seated in a corner by a doorway and I was chilly. There was plenty of room elsewhere so I am not sure why we were seated where we were.

A good beer selection - even though I don't drink it. My husband had a flight.

I had the crab cake sliders and found the bread too doughy and thick that they completely overpowered the crab cake. They were better eaten without the bun. They were ok. I've had better.

My husband had the Beef Brisket Sandwich. He liked the bread but over all said it was ok.

The service was amazing. Very efficient and quick delivery.

Excellent food and great ambiance. We started with the French onion soup and raspberry baked brie. If you like onions you must have the onion soup. It is loaded with onions. Both items were delicious. I had the veal parm and my wife had the lump crab cake. Both entrees were delicious. For dessert the house made cheesecake and carrot cake were exceptional. This is a restaurant you keep coming back to.

Booked Vidalia on Open Table the day before and we were lucky to get a table at 645pm. Reserved it bc NJ.com gave it best of Mercer County for Italian restaurants and I respect them bc they gave our favorite, Cafe 2825, it's due as best Italian in NJ.
Despite the slow greeting we were met by a nice and attentive server. We were tempted by the specials offered but stuck to what we came for. We did the avocado tower app, caesar salad, and vidalia onion soup to start. The tower was very good, think caprese salad with a twist. The onion soup was great. The caesar was good; cold/crisp lettuce, heavy on garlic flavor and could use more caesar taste to overcome the garlic. For the main course, my wife had eggplant parm with a side of penne vodka, which was a special request that was easily accomodated. I had the chicken saltimbocca. Both great. However, eggplant could have brought more flavor. Penne vodka and the saltimbocca both brought it, and the side of spinach was nice too. For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake, served with vanilla ice cream and espressos. All good, but nothing great there. All in all, this has become my 3rd favorite Italian restaurant. Cafe 2825 and Chef Vola, in AC, are tops but this follows close behind. A nice ambiance, but did not feel as personable as the other 2 and the food was just not as good. However, if you don't want to make the trip to the shore, this is where you go.

Rat's Restaurant

Reviewed By bluejeanfood - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Chef Ed Crochet oversees Rat’s, a French-focused restaurant famous for its unique setting within the 42-acre Grounds for Sculpture park. We REALLY enjoyed our visit to Grounds for Sculpture and anyone looking for a nice day outdoors and some cool art indoors as well should visit. The restaurant, Rat’s was conceptually designed to be reminiscent of Claude Monet’s beloved Giverny by sculptor Seward Johnson. It is named after the gregarious character “Ratty,” from Kenneth Grahame’s famed children’s story, The Wind in the Willows. The restaurant patio, noted for its sweeping views and al fresco dining, overlooks a lily pond framed by weeping willows, and the “Monet bridge.” We had a fabulous meal here. Things started out with their seasonal lemonade which during our visit was Blueberry Lemonade. 1rat4

Then things got started with a delicious appetizer of CHARRED WAGYU BEEF with Porcini, Mustard Greens, Rye Crouton that just melted in our mouths.
To follow-up that tasty treat was an even tastier morsel of FRENCH ONION SOUP with Croûton, Gruyère that was one of the better versions I have had in a long time.Ending the meal was their COQ AU RIESLING with Griggstown Chicken, Bacon Lardon, Oyster Mushroom, Cippolini Onion, Pommes Pureé that was AWESOME. Every bite was more flavorful than the next and was cooked perfectly. I would definitely drive all the way up here again just to dine at Rat’s, but making a day of it combined with Grounds for Sculpture made it a day to be remembered and enjoyed by all in the party. It’s a great time topped by a great meal!

My husband and I have been Enzo fans since 1995. It gets better every time we eat here. The food remains outstanding (best chicken giambatta in the whole of Western Civilization). The room is small but cozy and rarely ever too noisy even on a Saturday evening. My favorite is being greeted by the hostess-owner -Anna - with her great personality and warmth and charm. Like the food, that has been a constant over the years.
Last evening we were with a party of 8 and the food was outstanding from the veal parm to shrimp and scallops to cavaletti and clams to eggplant parm to chicken cacciatore and my choice of pork chop with apples and gorgonzola cheese. Appetizers were excellent.
The whole experience for all 8 us was sensational.
