Atzimba Mexican Restaurant

My wife and I are from Texas, home of fantastic TexMex food. On vacation in Tennessee, we stopped off in Selmer and tried the Atzimba. It was really, really good!!! Their salsa doesn't have any "fire" in it, but the flavor is perfect. So was their queso. We both got a combo plate...one crispy beef taco, one cheese enchilada, and one chalupa. Again, we were surprised by the quality and flavor of the food. The cheese enchilada was just so-so, but the taco meat was GREAT. And the chalupa was probably the best I've ever had. It had fantastic retried beans, and a ton of excellent quacamole. I don't think I've ever had a bean chalupa with guacamole, and it was super.

Folks keep talking about the distasteful decor, but honestly we thought it was pleasant and kind of fun looking. VERY BRIGHT, but fun.

All in all, it was a surprisingly great experience!

The Rockabilly Cafe

At the Visitor Center in Memphis we picked up several brochures. One was the Walking Tall Driving Tour for areas south of Memphis. We drove to Selmer. This is where Sheriff Buford Pusser carried a bat and brought Law and Order to the area. The museum is only open on weekends, but the Rockabilly Café has a lot of music memorabilia. This is where Elvis first met Carl Perkins. There are a couple of murals in the town that are interesting and worth a photo.

I had a slug burger. Not like fish. Not like beef. A taste all its own with patties made from beef, soy, and potato. These were for people back when, that could only afford a nickel (a slug) for a meal. They are actually pretty good; and naturally, the cheapest item on the menu.

I really enjoyed the photos, records, and album covers on all the walls. Some history there for sure.

Driven past this place many a times, usually too late or too early, finally this Wednesday the star were in line and they were open. I stopped and was thoroughly disappointed. Barbecue pork sandwich was dry and flavorless, no smokey favor either. The ribs tasted boarish, an after taste. They were moist but like the pulled pork lack the smokiness and flavor. Will not stop again.

I'm surprised this place hasn't received any ratings, So I'll go first.
Tiny spot on the corner right downtown, with maybe16 seats at the bar surrounding the cooks. Good luck finding a seat early morning for breakfast or right at noon for lunch, they stay busy. I go between 8-11a.m. and miss the crowd.
Everything on the menu is good, they don't just do slugburgers. My mother swears they have the best breakfast in town.
You might notice the porch outside where some evenings Ms. Pat and friends gather for a little pickin' and singin'.

I've been a customer since they opened in Adamsville...I actually liked Adamsville better because they raised their prices when they opened in Selmer...maybe they had to...They still are clean, good service and some pride in what they serve which is lacking at most of the rest...I've eaten better Italian food but...this is Selmer..it is 4 star when compared to its competition...Nice atmosphere also..well the only one with any....

Had the chance to stop and eat lunch here on Sunday. Hands down, the BEST chips I have ever had in any Mexican restaurant. They were served hot and fresh! I ordered the lunch special #4-2 Chicken Enchiladas for $4.99. We got our food in less than 5 minutes and it was great. Big chunks of white meat mixed in with shredded and the Enchilada sauce was awesome! The only hiccup was that my refill of Ice Tea. She gave me sweet tea when I asked for unsweet. That's ok because I know how unusual I am to order unsweet while in the South!

It was absolutely the best barbecue that I have ever put in my mouth and they have other menu items besides barbeque but the Barbeque and Cheese Potato is the best.I liked it better than ones I have eaten at McCallisters in the past. Also, if you are a Tennessee Vols fan, you've just gotta stop here. The decor is all orange, white, and Vols ! Always love Subway. Pleasant and friendly. Food is consistent and place is always clean. I accidentally tossed out a 5 dollar bill with some garbage in my car in their trash container. I called out there and the employee was so lind she dug through the garbage and found it. At least I had my 5 back to spend at Subway!

They don't have a sit down location. Its only pickup or I assume you can get delivery (not sure). The staff were friendly and the food we have had was par for the course for Pizza Hut.
