Was really surprising. After several days having really good meals in Ponta Delgada, I was surprised by this one man show. Great tuna and octopus dishes. Pineapple pie was very good. Ricardo is a very good chef that does what he knows and cares to have his customers happy. I went in a Wednesday night, near 21:30, restaurant wasn’t full. Ricardo was very kind and helpful. After some minutes we doubt if there was any one else in the kitchen besides him. After some chat, Ricardo confirmed that he does everything. He explained that after so many disappointments with his previous employees, he implemented this one man show model. I recommend it to everyone. Must be booked, at least two days in advance. For sure I will return.

I recently visited San Miguel and was impressed by the quality of the beef and restaurants in general. How ironic that my favorite restaurant by far was Rotas da Ilha Verde. What a simply charming experience. Their meals were unusual, creative and delicious. The wait staff was totally entertaining, helpful and very competent. A small specialty place, make sure to make Reservations as they fill up fast!

The recommendations were taken into consideration and we were not disappointed. Both the tuna steak and swordfish were done perfectly. The portions were good but it would have been nice with a few more vegetables to go along with the big steaks. The staff was friendly and it can get pretty hot inside the restaurant. The two fans weren't quite enough to circulate the air.

I dont like leaving reviews for places I havnt actually eaten at but we did walk in, sit down, look at the menu and then walk out again so its probably worth me advising others too.
As far as I can tell no hot food is served here, just cold cuts of meat and cheese. Maybe this is what this place is all about, if so maybe Trip Advisor needs some new headings/options? After a cold, miserable and dreary day sight seeing in Sao Miguel (like it is most days) I want something warm for an evening meal.
This place is also slightly difficult to find as its location on the map on TA isnt correct (its in the alleyway behind where its spot is located on the map).
Also inside its very dark (again Im sure this is their USP but just feels odd to me).

Visited Bar Caloura on various recommendations from local people. The restaurant is renowned for fresh fish. We weren't disappointed in any way! Fabulous food selection made from helpful staff recommendations.
Fish naturally. Lapas and gambas starter followed by grey mullet and local fish mix. Beautifully cooked and well presented. Service was superb throughout. Divine cheesecake dessert
and coffee to finish. A nice Alentejo Rocim wine accompanied the fish.
A lovely memorable meal. Highly recommended.

Saca-Rolhas Taberna

Well... My experience in this restaurant was a mix of feelings... We had here the last dinner before traveling back home.
The food was great. For starters we had the "morcela com ananás", "omelete de alheira" and garlic bread. Everything was good.
Some of the people of the group didn't want to had too much food and so they asked the chef for a ln alternative for the tuna, which he suggested tuna steak, and we all thought it would be a small dose. When the tuna arrived they had as much food as everyone else. And 1 dose would be enough to share between the both of them.
The rest ordered the beef and it was quite good, although the dose was really big and enough for 2.
When it was time to pay... The bill was huge.
So, although the food was good, the chef wasn't capable of saying that a dose was enough for 2, informing that it was individual doses. So, in my opinion it looked like he just wanted to win more money even knowing that we wouldn't be able to eat everything and the food was going to the bin.
The arrogance of him trying to explain their prices was even worse. Luckily he had a nice waitress, otherwise everyone would run from there.
I won't come back to this restaurant.

Right in the heart of punts Delgado. I was told we needed Reservations but managed to get in for lunch no problem. Authentic Azorian, lots of seafood options. Full of locals, so you know it's good and authentic. Some of the menu options a little too authentic. Cows hoofs and tripe, but I ordered the octopus and it was selfish. Look for the blue door.

Quinta dos Sabores

Reviewed By occdocbill - La Crosse, WI

This place was far more formal than we expected, being a farm dinner but having 10 pieces of cutlery per setting, but it was a pleasant surprise. Service starts as soon as you are seated and continues for the next 90 minutes with a real variety of options to challenge the palate. The appetizers and salad were very creative and flavorful and the entrees of ahi and beef were perfectly cooked, although one piece out of four of ahi was cooked medium for some reason. Wine selection was from the family vineyard in Portugal and ridiculously inexpensive. We actually liked the second-tier wine better than the third. The only let-downs were the soup and dessert. Soup was shockingly uninspired as green bean soup, which was very small chunks of what could have been canned beans in a thin broth with absolutely no garnish or seasoning. Dessert was blackberry ice cream, which was more like ice milk with little flavor. Those two gaffes kept me from giving a 5 rating, but the rest of the experience was 5+.
