We were craving some traditional American food after enjoying traditional Columbian food for a month. The desire was satisfied at Gringo Mikes with pancakes with maple syrup and a giant blue cheese bacon burger. Good mint lemonade. Good service and reasonable price. Not crazy about their mojito.

It hard to find a decent restaurant in Colombia these days that doesn't have a high chair for a baby, but Sam's Gastro Pub unfortunately made the category, and so we had to take turns struggling one-handedly with our 13 month old baby and the food. The lunch we had was uninspiringly average: the "sopa de patacon" was flavourless (quite an achievement in this country where the default addition of cilantro and ají to nearly everything makes for a flavour burst, but not here). The vegetarian version of the menu of the day was the same meal minus the meat - not so much as a suggestion of a fries egg as a substitute! The lentil burger didn't even manage to include salt and pepper in its ingredients, and it's hard to imagine a self-respecting "gastro" pub that would serve you a burger without French fries included in, but no, not in Sam's. Given that the chalkboard at the entrance is in English and boasts of its prices in USD, it's clear their target market are foreign tourists. If you're looking for something reassuringly familiar on your way through San Gil, Sam's might keep you happy. It didn't manage it for us.

My husband had the pasta bolognaise, me pasta pesto and the pastas were both delicious, freshly made. Also the bread that came along was very good. We definitly can recommend this place.

San Gil is a very laid back town-packed with extreme sports activities and many casual restaurants to eat at. In the midst of all these, there is a great restaurant that we were told some locals go to for very special occasions (not all because it is definitely pricey). The place is very simple / modern and atop a hill so you get a great view. The food was amazing. Their specialty is seafood and everything was great from appetizer to dessert. The prices are definitely up there but if you are looking for a little bit of an upscale experience or celebrating a special moment - romantic or otherwise, you can definitely go here.

You will not disappointed this restaurant is a must whilst in San Gil. The waitresses made a real effort and excused my little Spanish, excellent service. The food arrived very quickly after ordering including fruit, soup, bread, a main course which you choose which sauce you would like your meat cooked in, lemonade and a dessert. Superb service good quality food excellent prices. All for 14 Pesos.

As a vegetarian I often have a rough time finding food while traveling and my sister (non-veg) wanted mexican food, so we went to this restaurant and they have a really nice environment, mexican music, decoration and people, and they allow you to take pictures wearing their masks and hats. Food was really nice and tasty, I asked for a vegetarian burrito one day and next day for a kind of Sandwich and both were awesome. My sister asked for Tacos and something else, and she was also happy with her choice.
In brief, one of the best restaurants I visited in San Gil.

Beautiful Cathedral. Beautiful view of Bogota. About 3 restaurants all of which are very nice food very good. Gets kind of clothes so bring a sweater or jacket
