A stronghold of Mayan culture, San Cristóbal’s colonial stucco walls and Spanish tile roofs contrast with the surrounding villages, which remain home to an array of Mayan-descendant Indians. The city itself is a delight. Paired with the cultural diversity surrounding it, there’s nothing like it in Mexico.

7 of us spent a lovely time with Chef Alessandro and his team. From the starters to the main courses, everything was excellent! He personally makes the cheese served at his restaurant. The smoked cheese was amazing. Bruschettas and all pastas were also great.

Beautiful presentation that shows the pride of serving regional cuisine of this state. Superb service in this lovely restaurant that was recommended by our hotel in the historical centre of San Cristobal de las Casas.
I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys finer dining and an appreciation of attention to detail in their dining experience.

The service was amazing, and you'll always be pleasantly surprised with the food - every drink comes with free tapas according to the chef's mood!!
No matter what we were doing, would go for a wine break every afternoon- the vibe fits perfectly to the charm of San Cristobal

Authentic, home-made Thai food by Sutharee from Bangkok. No fusion. No Thai-Mex.
I love Thai food, so wherever I travel in the world I always seek out a Thai restaurant for one of my meals. Mexico is no exception. This little restaurant, located well away from the busy, central area of the city, is a real gem. It's on a very non-descript block and has an outdoor patio as well as Seating inside. The staff is great, so friendly and attentive. The food is very authentic. I had fresh spring rolls that were huge and bursting with lots of vegetables. I also had a red curry with chicken and vegetables. It was pleasantly spicy...the delicious Thai iced tea helped keep it just right. The menu changes each day, so check their Facebook page before you go in order to see what's on that day's menu. The food does take a little time...they have signs that say, "very, very slow food ". But it really didn't take that long, especially considering everything is freshly made. Just relax, be patient, and slow down. Why be in a rush...you're on vacation, right? It's definitely worth the wait. HIGHLY recommend this place!!

We went here due to excellent references from our hotel and reviews. Frankly we think this place is over rated.
We were looking forward to the al pastor but were disappointed by the small amount of pork in the tacos. We were not warned by the staff about the salsa bar, EVERYTHING there is muy caliente, including the guacamole. Beware unless you really like hot.

Warm and cosy, friendly and welcoming staff, great environment and live music! Could you ask for more? Yes, lovely food. Even fries (with a delicious homemade chilli sauce!) are great. I could spend every evening in there! (Plus: a chimney!) Thank you Cocoliche, you are...MoreThank you so much for your comment... It is our pleasure to have you here!

LUM, which in Tzotzil means earth, is an inviting place that reflects the colors of San Cristóbal de las Casas while paying homage to the three other classical elements that are essential to life: air, water and fire. At Restaurante Lum, we love to offer top quality and seasonal products that Mother Earth provides. Our restaurant is inspired by Mexican and global flavors. We look for products that are harvested in its prime. In our kitchen, we respect the intrinsic value of each ingredient and create original dishes that reference classic international flavors, aromas and textures while preserving and celebrating the distinct Mexican culinary culture. Our team brings to your table freshly made dishes and personalized service, reflecting our love and passion for food. Our objective is to create a memorable culinary experience and we hope that every dish tells you an enchanting story that delights each of your senses.
Spent three weeks travelling all around Mexico, and this was by far our best meal.
50 USD (including 15% tip) for a lovely restaurant with live music and great service, a starter a salad and two mains, all delicious. THe brioche and raviolis were our favorite. Dont miss it!

The food in Chiapas represents the fusion of the social history of the original peoples ofMesoamerica and the cultures of other continents. In the Most representative dishes always perceive the fusion of cultures that arises since 1528 and also, in tradition and party where the cultural resistance and the indigenous worldview persist. Among the most representative of the cuisine of San Cristóbal isfind the stuffed chiles in saffron sauce, mole or roasted pigtail, bread soup, chipilín cream, sausages and cold meats in addition to local drinks with chia, pozol or tascalate without missing the organic coffee and delicious Xocolate. Our proposal is recreated in this dance of flavors that have made the preference of diners who visit our Belil Restaurant recognizing the hospitality with which they we receive each client and we foster social interconnection, that is why in each visitor we see him as a tourist in solidarity can be interested in experiences with social meaning
This restaurant is worth going out of your way to find. Ask at your hotel for directions, or find it on the map, and you won’t be disappointed. Ricardo and Carmen and their staff not only turn out local specialties prepared with organic and fair-trade ingredients, they operate a shop within the restaurant that sells textiles, pottery etc. made by local villagers. It’s was the highest quality I saw in several days of walking around town. They operate an NGO that works with local women and teaches them to incorporate modern designs that are much more attractive than anything found in the streets or the markets. The prices are exceptional, the staff friendly and helpful and Ricardo offered us all sorts of info on interesting places to visit. Have the special “bread soup” if you can. Everything is excellent.

This is my sixth visit to SCC. I always search for new places and found a delightful restaurant last night with Trip Advisor’s help. First of all, the human component: Victor was a great waiter! The food and drink were exquisite. The crispy duck tacos were delicious...better once they brought me the habanero sauce. The Sopa Campesina was also delicious. My niece ordered the Crema de Chile Poblano and she was very pleased. Desserts and complimentary after dinner drinks were a perfect end to a perfect evening.

Wines and Tapas in the heart of San Cristobal de las Casas. Tapas Local products of Catalan and Spanish cuisine. Products jamon iberico import as Jabugo, anchovies, idiazabal cheese etc. Live music in the evenings. Photography classes for beginners and more advanced people. Good atmosphere to talk while chosen for their good quality at a fair price, always accompanied by a free tapas wine tasting.
I have been here two times during my stay in San Cristobal. Great wine, food, service and live music.
