It was not full moon, but a saturday evening in september. We had a reservation at 21.45pm. We had to wait 40 min for a table and half an hour more until they took our orders. The place is nice, the prices ok and the food depending of what you take. The brasilian stuff was very good, the tapas just forget. The music of a life group nice but a little bit loud when you are sitting to close. As there are a lot of nice restaurants in the region we will not go back. The menu is too big. They shoild concentrate in what they know and can. Mixture of brasilian, spanish and french is really strange. When we left we were no in a good mood....

we have been here many times and as ever the service was first class, very welcoming and not at all pushy. The menu initially looks a little limited and different but we all had fantastic meals, really top quality cooking and clean plates all round.
They accommodated our 12 year old son by cooking him a plate of pasta as he didn't like the menu. The Deserts were fabulous. I had the cafe gourmand which was superb. Great wine as well, all in all another great meal here with very inventive and different cuisine which never disappoints.

Visited last night as part of our Minimoon after getting married last week. Our hotel owners recommended this place to us ( hotel review to follow ) as they know the owner. Have to say a very good recommendation, three very good courses and a bottle of wine. Generous portion sizes, very good quality produce and a nice atmosphere. Not in the best position and could be missed. A lovely meat pasta dish to start ( watch out for the garlick ! ) I had the lamb for main, super ! And my wife had the scallops very large and very tasty. We also had the choc fondant which was lovely, not sure but I think the cream was from a can( the only poor point ) overall a good experience and would gladly return.

L'Art des Mets

This area is characterised by numerous Ok restaurants, many are pizzerias and few excel. So if you are looking for something relatively traditional, providing good food at moderate prices this might be for you.
The first major plus is that this is a most welcome completely smoking free restaurant, a rarity on the coast. There is no pretence that because many of the windows are open that this constitutes an open area. For this reason I have given it a 4 rather than 3 star.
We were given a most hospitable welcome and not given the table by the door even though we were the first ones in unlike described in one of the previous reviews. This is the power of Tripadvisor perhaps?
Being predominantly a fish eater I am disappointed at the extent to which fish restaurants have almost all given up providing fresh fish in order to retain an extensive menu. As is typical in France previously frozen fish products were not indicated on the menu, however the waitress answered without defensiveness what was and wasn't frozen. This greatly guided our choices.
Starters of Foie Gras were good, the main dish of fish stew was good, duck brochette perhaps not so good.
The house wine was very acceptable and significantly kept the bill down compared to the bottled offerings.
We would go again.

This is a superb restaurant on the beach! We were lucky to gain entrance as booking is essential! Very, very popular! Our family had moules frites (mussels with chips - 3 cooking choices) in enormous white bowls. Delicious! Lots of seafood I noticed on large platters. A real treat!

This is one of the two best restuarants in St Aygulf. Have had both lunch and dinner and the food is always well presented and delicious. A feature is that Thomas provides decent vegetables with his main courses! Lunch is probably best value, and expect to pay a little more than in the more touristy restuarants in this delightful town. The house wine is perfectly acceptable. The interior is furnished in modern style, and on a warm day the ambiance on the partially coverd forecourt is very pleasant.

What could have been a lovely meal and evening was ruined by incredibly poor customer service and poor quality meat that was cooked incorrectly. This restaurant has a superb location and our party were all looking forward to a good evening. A little slow to start with, took a while to produce menus and take orders. The waiter at this point asked if we wished to order in English, which we did, and luckily his English was excellent. The majority of our food was good, lovely large salads, mussels were decent. Unfortunately the 23 Euro entrecôte was fatty and over cooked. It was requested to be cooked medium, as was a sirloin we ordered which arrived cooked as desired. When we politely pointed out this mistake the waiter became defensive and didn't even look at the plate before saying that in France that is how medium steaks come. He refused to deal with the situation and suddenly his English escaped him, being replaced with arrogance and rudeness. His patronising attitude and his attempts to belittle us left us speechless and he became aloof and left the table. We received no further service. On asking for the bill we requested that the entrecôte be taken off as it had not been eaten. This resulted in one of our party being taken to the chef, who couldn't speak English and when we asked for the waiter to translate for us he said he was unable. The steak was taken off after some debate during which the waiter was aggressive and rude. Such a shame but would never recommend a visit here.

Fantastic lunch today at this little restaurant hidden in a side street of St Aygulf. Deservedly no 1 on Trip Advisor. My husband had the 3 fish and I had the steak with au poivre sauce. Both were amazing. Followed by dangerous sorbet specialities. Absolutely fabulous. We were made to feel very welcome. Not to be missed.

We have wandered past this restaurant dozens of times. I'll be honest, we have always overlooked most of the beachfront restaurants because we assumed they wouldn't necessarily be as good as some of the other restaurants in the village centre and might be overpriced, but as we are staying at the beach on our next trip and it will be one of our 'locals', we thought we'd give it a go. As it was the first week of June the resort was quite quiet and there were probably a dozen or so tables in all evening. We were given a warm welcome by a lovely local lady who was our main waitress for the evening and could possibly also have been the manageress (we didn't ask but will do next time).
This place has a very extensive menu and it all looked quite good, but in the end we both plumped for the 'menu sardines' which was pretty good for the money paid. We started with 8 grilled sardines each, plain and simple with a little salad on the side, which were to die for. Next was a generous portion of moules-frites in a sauce of choice (roquefort, curry, mariniere etc). Perfectly nice, well cooked and followed by a couple of really nice desserts.
Given the prime location of L'Iceberg (sea front with bay views) I would have expected to be charged more than we were for what was a very good meal, and we will definitely be going back there a couple of times when we're back in September.

Stopped here for something to eat and had a variety of burgers, kebab meat etc which were all very good. However the Deserts were even better. The ice cream,in many many different flavours was amazing. Prices for all of this were very reasonable and good value.
When we went to pay and were told that they didn't take cards we realised that we did not have enough cash on us. My partner asked where the nearest cash point was so that he could pop and draw some cash out but we were told oh don't worry leave me a driving licence and come back tomorrow to pay. We thought this was very kind and of course went straight to get the cash any way.
We returned here again on another evening and enjoyed it just as much.
Would recommend.
