Fjord

Just came back from the Fjord, because the Viking was closed. I have always preferred the Viking, cause the Fjord looks somehow socialistic to me - large concrete Terrace, dark woods inside... Anyway, the oysters were superb, when we ordered, the waiter said they have just sold out the daily inventory, sat in a car and drove 150m away to buy the oysters from a fisherman that farm the oysters here. Ten minutes later, they came to our table, chilled on ice, just fresh from the sea. Now, where can u get this ?
Grancevolo was juicy and sweet, almost perfect, so the only objection I have is that the bottle of an extra virgin olive oil on the table was translucent and not dimmed. Staff very pro.

We have known this marvellous restaurant for 17 years and we're always fully satisfied. We always have mixed mussels and bavette alto mate (with lobster). We hope that the quality will remain the same for many more years and the chef waiter also
A popular German magazine called it the best fish restaurant in Istria. Although we don't know all for us it's true.

While this restaurant does not enjoy sea views, it is worth visiting with outstanding food and excellent service. And the prices are less than some of the other top restaurants in the area, which have sea views, making this a must for dining.

The food was very photogenic , some dishes were whimsical and delicious , everything was tasty , and the service was mostly great . Our only criticism was that the sommelier said our initial choice of wine was "garage wine" and dissuaded us from ordering it. Ok, but why offer such a choice on the menu ? ! We did take sommelier 's advice and liked the next choice . The five course tasting menu was very tasty and we couldn't imagine even more desserts with other tasting menu

Restaurant LA PERLA

We ate out here during a recent stay in Rovinj, primarily as it was close to our accommodation, and previous Tripadvisor reviews.
We booked a table the day before for a Sunday evening in September, as we didn't know how busy it would be. However, as it was low season the restaurant was only half full.
The atmosphere inside was very pleasant, the tables well set, with a modern look, not typical of other establishments in Croatia.
We were pleasantly surprised at the menu prices, and were expecting them to be higher than they were. Dishes on the menu were typical of what is generally on offer in the area, but all the food was well served and delicious, and was served with warm bread.
A good choice. If we were staying longer in Rovinj we would have returned.

La Puntulina

Reviewed By LaDolceVita27 - King's Lynn, United Kingdom

Our hotel had recommended this as one of the best fish restaurants in Rovinj and TripAdvisor seemed to back this up so, after taking in the sights of the town, we finished off with a late lunch there. Even on a rather cloudy afternoon in mid-September it was a popular choice. I strongly recommend making a reservation if you want to avoid being turned away as were many who came in search of a table after we sat down.
This is a restaurant still imposing a cover charge for which we got a small basket of rather uninspiring bread and a small salt cod bruschetta apiece. Requesting a jug of tap water we mysteriously got a bottle of still - for which of course we paid extra - whilst other local diners fared rather better. No such complaints about our Aperol Spritzes which were large and refreshing. Less so the mediocre glass of white wine served to my wife.
I started with squid slow cooked in its own juices while my wife opted for ravioli with black truffles. Both could best be described as hearty fare, enjoyable enough but lacking sophistication. Mains were similarly straightforward: a large plate of scampi for my wife and, for me, a generous serving of grilled fish: more squid, a couple of prawns and two large fillets of sea bass. Feeling quite full we were nonetheless tempted by the cake of the day - a deconstructed strudel - and polished one off between us. At this point we were driven away by an adjacent and inconsiderate (British) smoker - this antisocial behaviour still seems the norm outdoors even in upmarket Croatian restaurants - so gave coffee a miss.
Service was uneven with some long waits but it became obvious that this was in part due to deliberate slowing down to ensure the small number of wait staff were not completely crushed under the work. The upside of this was that we had longer to enjoy the sea view before asking for a bill. The cost of nearly £100 was not outrageous but rather more than you might expect to pay in other parts of Europe.

Situated in one of the many charming streets leading to the famous "Grisia" the Balbi provided us with a wide variety of choices that we explored on a regular basis. Always well cooked and always served quickly and with a smile. All this at a very reasonable cost. A tip- have a carafe of the excellent local wine rather than the bottles.

Pizzeria Da Sergio came highly recommended to us as the best pizza in town by a few locals. We weren't overly impressed with the pizza itself, it was certainly yummy but the toppings on the German pizza weren't that great. Was was great about Pizzeria Da Sergio was the service - we went here on a busy Thursday night in September and the staff took our name and called for us up the street when our table was ready. The Waitstaff inside were also helpful with choosing meals etc.
We had the german pizza & four cheese pizza with beers, which set us back just 164kn / €25. Great value! Our tip - this place would be great for families or large groups.

Mali Raj

Reviewed By dobbelska - Delft, The Netherlands

Mali Raj is a very friendly, nice restaurant with a beautiful grapevine roof (real, not plastic) over the tables. We came here coincidentally and the kids loved it instantly, also because the restaurant serves simple, healthy salads, which is a relief after all grilled and deep fried stuff. I had St. Jacobs' scallops as a starter and gambas as a main. The scallops had too much cheese on them, just a little bit would have made a better match. The gambas (the real stuff, unpeeled) were served with pasta in a special local sauce, which was a bit too greasy but delicious.
Best of Mali Raj is the staff: in Vrsar I haven't seen them this hospitable, hard-working and friendly, speaking all necessary languages. We got grappa and kruskovac liquor on the house. If the kitchen improves a bit on the food subtleties they will be five-star! This hard-working team deserves your visit.
