Visited for lunch with Madeiran friend who recommended Cantinho da Madalena for traditional seafood. We weren't disappointed!
Shared starter selection of lapas, clams a bulhao, bolo do caco and polvo vinaigrette. Absolutely delicious.
Main courses of grilled squid, seafood selection and polvo a cantinho all served with potatoes and salad. Beatifully cooked, well presented and tasted fantastic!
Cartuxa red wine, beer, soft drinks and water throughout.
Lovely coffee to finish.
Good service and friendly throughout.
Thank you Cantinho da Madalena.
Definitely recommended.

This cafe is in our guide book and is in an enviable position, perched on a rock, overlooking the pretty seafront of this small seaside resort. It now goes under the name of Cais do Ponta do Sol and the signage has been changed from that previously depicted by other contributors. Whether it has changed hands or not, I have no idea.
We only called in for a drink on the Terrace, to relax and enjoy the great views. Once we had been served, the staff appeared to be content, sitting in a huddled looking at some electronic gizmo. We didn't see anyone eating so couldn't comment on the food but our drinks were very reasonably priced and it is worth a visit for the view alone.

Restaurante Dos Amigos is located in Livramento Ponta do sol and serves a variety of local Maderense dishes like espada, bacalao ,espetada,picado, and has affordable prices . it may not be the most luxurious restaurant but the food is very good and is a good value for your money.

We live in the uk but have a property literally 200 yards from trianguloso, the food is excellent, the buffet at lunchtime is mega popular! I had take outs pretty much everynight from here and they were all excellent! Try the espada with fried banana...Moremuito obrigado por validar nosso restaurante. Nossos clientes são muito importantes para nós.

THis restaurant/hotel is also owned by Estalagem Ponta do Sol hotel. Menu is slightly less expensive and a limited menu for dinner only. My Veggie pasta dish was wonderful as was the other dish we tried. It is at sea level across from beach; nice for drinks and snacks.

During our stay on Madeiro we visited Ponta do Sol. After walking around a bit we stopped at Mare Alta for a quick lunch. We sat down on some chairs outside the restaurant hoping the sun would come out.... and it did! We thoroughly enjoyed a simple lunch, garlic bread, fish soup and white wine and especially the sun. The staff serving us were extremely kind. It was the highlight of the day. Visit this restaurant if you are in Ponta do Sol.

The restaurant is near a little beach and at the end of a Promenade. It is not very busy, but just enough people there. The food was just fine. We had the fresh fish of the day with a portion of fries, potato's and a salad.
Don't expect something fancy, but it is great after a swim or after a day's walk.

Despite not staying at the hotel we did visit for dinner. The setting is magnificent. Beautiful view of the sun and the sea.
Food was really excellent. We had the samon and the beef tartar as a starter and espada and the fish of the day with beetroot risotto as a main. Food was really beautifully prepared. Really fresh and well cooked (i.e. not overdone)
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will revisit when in the neighborhood.

Hidden just behind the beach front is this cafe/restaurant. We enjoyed fresh sardines and a chicken salad, both small dishes but adequate for our needs and reasonably priced. They do Tapas and different dishes.
The staff were very pleasant as are all the madeirans we have met somfar.

A small but friendly pizzeria with simple and good food, had dinner here on two occasions. First night had pizza which was really tasty, second night had pasta which was lovely. It is very popular with the locals and seems to be a meeting place for families.
