Cafe Nola

Traveling cross country we found Cafe Nola. Terrific waitress who was patient and helpful and fun. I had seafood salad - grilled crayfish, shrimp and crab on top of salad. Delicious. Husband had perfectly cooked and tender steak special with spinach. He raved about its perfection. We added a glass of wine and had a relaxing and fun dinner after a long drive.

After lunch at CAFE NOLA, us girls popped next door for a cup of coffee and to chat some more. We had hot and fresh Latte's which were perfectly prepared with foam on top. Then we continued our chat at one of their comfortable tables for a relaxing visit. Pastries are available but we were too full from lunch. Many different coffees to choose from, hot & cold, so give them a try.

Three out of four of us got steak. Oddly enough, three out of four of us loved our meals. I ordered the grilled cheese with blue crab meat because I mean, come on, it sounded awesome. I feel like if they'd had a better description I would not have gotten it because I did not like it. I was expecting gooey cheese with some chunks of crab meat, however, what I got was a crab cake with a little cheese on bread. It was ok, the tomato basil dipping sauce was way better than the sandwich. They should make what they offer along with that tomato dip as a soup and then it would be amazing. All that being said, everyone raved about the steak and how well they were cooked and seasoned and how tender and juicy they were. I'll definitely go back, I'll just question my server to make sure I get what I'm ordering.

This place used to be the Chocolate Vine and then Bea's Bistro. Both are closed. I'm sure someone will take another stab at this location one day. It's a small place with a decent kitchen area. A really good coffee shop would do well here if the owner was diligent and the rent not too high.

Paul's Cafe

Reviewed By Swampcactus - Phoenix, AZ

Whoa, what happened? We remember a different Paul's from that which experienced today. All three of us ordered the shrimp étouffée. What we were served bore zero resemblance to the real deal. The selection consisted of tiny specimens of shrimp cooked in simple canned tomato sauce that had no flavor except for tomato and salt--lots and lots of salt. Crazy salt. Excessive salt. Insane salt. On complaining to the server, my wife's meal was replaced with gumbo, which also contained too much salt, but at least not at turbocharged levels. I had eaten too much of mine to feel comfortable with sending it back. We'll never return. This was awful.

Food is delicious. Will not find better fried seafood in the area. Very generous portions, and reasonable prices.
Most definitely not fancy (very dated furnishings with this big eyesore cooler display that serves as storage), and service can be slow and is hit or miss. But again, best fried seafood in the area!

A good place to stop in for lunch or dinner. Reasonably priced daily specials and a menu with many options. Tex Mex dishes are a staple and you can also get Asian dishes including fresh made Sushi Rolls. Right in the middle of town and ample parking make this a good choice if you are in a hurry fur lunch.

We order takeout & the jambalaya lunch special is really good, also like the hamburgers!! Located on the main drag in downtown Ponchatoula, they are usually pretty busy & I find ordering takeout frustrating because they sometimes take forever to answer & then put you on hold, very casual but pricees are very resonable & food is good
