I went to this restaurant ( somewhat macabre to the huge number of skins and animal heads that addobbavano dining rooms ), following the advice of the Lonely Planet guide .
The waitress wanted us to order without letting us see the menu, which gave us only on our request (which is quite strange do not you think ? ) . Well after ordering ( in 1 mix of Italian and English and Romanian ) ate the cheese made from their modest , 1 bean soup mix 1 insipid and grill meat (which mysteriously were cold despite the waitress claimed that had just been grilled ) with vegetables and salad.
Finally espresso, cold too.
At the moment the bill we noticed 1 serving of potatoes (not required nor consumed) and 1 portion of lamb . We pointed out that we had not requested could neither potatoes nor the lamb and the waitress claimed that the "normal" mix of meat does not include the lamb (who had served us even though we had not ordered ) .
Well in the end we asked to take into account both the potatoes is the lamb.
They did it out of spite and they made us pay for two coffees (who first told to take their offer ) . enabled card ( strange for a restraunt " for tourists" as the name implies ) .
Worst place and where the most expensive I've ever eaten in Romania!

Hystoric place, nice decorations, good food. A bit too pricey, above Romanian average, without being more special than other restaurants in Brasov. Ask to be seated in the basement, looks way better than upstairs.

Located in the center of Poiana Brasov resort and surrounded by the beautiful fir tree forest, Restaurant Vanatorul is the best place where you can enjoy a lovely meal, try our unique venison game meat, our well known "papanasi" dessert and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Our tradition is more than 40 years, the restaurant being established in the month of July, 1975!

I'm not a big eater of meat, and this was my first incursion into game. I had the wild boar, which was very tender and nicely cooked, and I also tried a variety of dried meats, which I shared with my husband. That was not as impressive as the boar. To sum up, I think this is an excellent place for meat lovers, but maybe not the greatest choice for someone who can live off fruit and veg and be perfectly contented. I should also mention that the Pinot Noir I tried was quite good, and although many previous reviewers have complained about an unpleasant smell, we felt nothing of the sort. It was a pleasant evening, albeit one we won't soon repeat.

We came here for our wedding anniversary and it was a perfectly nice meal. Great views over the city and great service too. Quite expensive though...

The place is authentic as it gets. Our friends liked it too. The food was good, prices very reasonable.
The only thing I would complain about is that two of the many main dishes ordered were not served and billed but we didn’t notice till later that night.

Spent 3 evenings here for meals. All very tasty and very nice staff. Menu had good variety of dishes and the desserts we had were enormous, especially the apple pie type dessert.

Pub-like atmosphere, with a friendly staff, concerned with a customers wishes and satisfaction. The pasta may be al little over cooked and the Chef is a little too careful with the seasoning, but overall it’s a “feel good” fast lunch or dinner!Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant, dear Sebastian! The food was at best mediocre - looked and tasted as if it had been cooked on an industrial scale and the atmosphere was non-existent. Couldn't shake off ghe feeling that we were in a funeral parlour. The neon lioghting did not help either.
