Sabanero Steakhouse

Sabanero steak house features premium cut from Costa Rica and USA.

Reviewed By jdocBaltimore - Baltimore

The Sabanero Steakhouse serves both Costa Rican grass fed beef and gain fed Angus beef from the U.S. as well as some non-beef dishes. The local beef is somewhat less expensive and we found it to be delicious. Terrific homemade bread. Service was top notch but this is the most expensive restaurant at the hotel.

My husband and I went to Lola’s twice during our honeymoon in Tamarindo. The beach was beautiful and the Lolajito was honestly one of the best beach drinks I have ever had. It’s just a blended mojito with pineapple but it wasn’t too sweet and was so refreshing - just perfect. The bartenders were super busy but also on their game, we never waited long for a drink or snack. The food was fresh and I like their commitment to sustainability.

Cafe Playa Negra

Great food and prices for the adventurous that want to try the energizing peruvian ceviche or for the most conservative that want a fine Tuna steak or a good hamburguer. Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Surf videos, bar and great music.

My wife and I had Caesar salads that came with chicken fingers. They were pretty good, with the chicken being particularly tasty. However, our kids, who ordered off the kid's menu, ended up costing us more than our meals. Even the soft drinks were expensive. We probably won't return because of the prices but the food was good.

Worth the trip down the dirt road, this place is so welcoming and the owner was also our server, sharing stories and providing a friendly environment. We ended up having 2 pizzas because we couldn't decide on just one, and they were both delicious. I eat a lot of pizza in my line of work, and the crust was just amazing - along with the rest of the pie. We had a butter white sauce pizza with shrimp and another with basil and balsamic. We had some leftover pizza and it tasted just as good cold for breakfast! We had heard the sangria is wonderful, and I'm not really a big fan of sangria, but we got a pitcher and it was the best I've ever had. The fruit and spices she used were a perfect combination and it was so refreshing on a hot night. I would definitely go back if we are ever in the area again.

I was very fortunate to get added as a last minute single onto a group for 4 lovely Canadians for the zip lining trip which was a real buzz and a great experience.
Having the opportunity to see the land and howler monkeys on the way to the summit was great and our 2 guides were funny and very chatty which really relaxed the mood for those that were nervous.
If i recall correctly there were 9 zip lines in total some bigger and slightly scarier than the others but overall very good for the whole family and I would very much recommend doing it for anyone!
I was very lucky to to be invited to stay for the BBQ afterwards with the group I was with and this was by far the best BBQ I have ever experienced and ive had a few in my time!
Alex Urbaniak the owner from the moment he picked me up from from my hotel to dropping me back after a few mojitos was a great guy and i'm really excited for him and the team with what they are planning at the ranch and the whole evolution of their plans to make this a real go to experience not just for the zip lining, horse trekking and the BBQ of course but for the other entertainment ideas they will be adding in time.
Sometimes you go on these trips and think people are just nice because its their job to be at Black Stallion you know these guys are as genuine as can be and I cant recommend this enough! Trust me for a Brit to rave about something like this it has to be good so all brits out there looking at this DO IT!
Alex I will be back brother and cheers for the chat and mojito's at Panga on the way back!

My wife and I stopped here one morning for breakfast and were very impressed with the food. I had the Gallo Tico, a great combination of scrambled eggs and rice and beans with tortilla. The ice coffee topped it off. All organic and locally sourced. They had a nice organic grocery store, with incredible banana but bread. The highlight though was a visit by this little magpie. Stop by while in Tamarindo. You won’t be sorry.

The food was delicious, had no complaints. I did notice that the pool side prices were higher than room service, which is exactly opposite of my normal experience with resorts. Not sure if this was a labor issue, or something else, but the same food was available from your room for less, and the room service experience was fast and great.
