Thanks to reviews by other TripAdvisor members, I easily selected Winnegance Restaurant & Bakery as my place for lunch in Bath, the City of Ships. It was also conveniently located not far from the Maine Maritime Museum where I went earlier in the day.

The Winnegance Restaurant & Bakery takes its name from its locale. Winnegance is an area made up from parts of Bath, West Bath, and Phippsburg.

It was a cozy café-style place with tables and chairs of different heights. Two of the tables were hand-painted by an employee. One tabletop had an octopus; the other had a lobster. I sat at the lobster table in the front window that overlooked a cove on Winnegance Creek at its confluence with the Kennebec River. Winnegance Lake is on the other side of Route 209. The view was scenic even in winter.

The lunch menu had a few hot meals, soup, and some sandwiches.

After some discussion with the waitress, I ultimately chose the Lobster Grilled Cheese Sandwich at $14.95 + 8% Maine Meals Tax of $1.20 for a total of $16.15. It came with pickle chips and a bag of potato chips.

It was about a 20-minute wait for my sandwich. It was well worth the wait. The sandwich featured slices of Swiss and American cheeses and about 3 oz. of chopped lobster spread throughout the sandwich on wheat berry bread. The rich nutty flavor of the wheat berry bread tasted great to me with the cheese and the lobster. It was excellent. It was definitely a sandwich I’d eat again.

Service was great. The place was clean.

The bakery section had some tempting goodies.

During my visit, I got a look at the breakfast menu. It had more items than the lunch menu. On the next visit to the Mid-Coast Region, I plan to have breakfast there.

I rate Winnegance Restaurant & Bakery at 5.0. I highly recommend eating here.

Seafood shack on the dock surrounded by rocks for the kids to climb on, and fishermen coming and going. Really is an idyllic setting. Food is outstanding. Giant lobster roll. Great sandwiches--the Jenny Special is amazing. Fantastic and swift service. This August was our fourth year returning to the area and we never miss Five Islands.

Cafe Creme

Reviewed By KurtAndWendy - Portland, Maine

Cafe Creme has a wide (and creative) selection of espresso coffees and smoothies. Teas also available, along with yummy homemade baked goods and luncheon salads/sandwiches/quiches. This our "go to" for a pick-me-up when we go to Bath for shopping -- and an essential coffee stop when heading further north on Maine's scenic Route 1. It's located at the top of Bath's main shopping street, across from City Hall and the kitchen store. Free wi-fi. Very cozy, comfy, welcoming setting. Always full of folks sitting at cafe tables or on the numerous sofa-chair-coffee table settings. It's a really nice place to bring your laptop, then browse on the laptop while you sip and graze on cafe offerings. The atmosphere is very welcoming and homey. They have a wonderful, very friendly, helpful staff. Many "thumbs up" on this wonderful cafe! On-street parking is available but you also can find a large free lot on Water Street, just down behind the main shopping block. It's an easy walk from there.

Taste of Maine Restaurant

Stopped with a relatively large group of people. They knew we were coming as a group. Food and beverages didn't take long to arrive. It's supposed to be the place to stop for seafood. I don't eat seafood, so had chicken instead. Rather plain, not much taste but I didn't leave hungry. There is a lot to see inside the restaurant. All sorts of antiques and collectibles on display. No real rhyme or reason for the collections and they have been there awhile. I felt it made the place look dusty. I would stop again. There is a bar and there is a great view overlooking the marsh.

The drive out to Spinney's is lovely and when you arrive the view is breathtaking. We had the lobster which was cooked perfectly. Leave room for fresh baked pie. The chef uses creme cinnamon in his blueberry pie which was amazing. The ladies at the table next to us said they come to Spinney's often when they visit every season and are never disappointed. We love local favorites.

Voted best lobster roll in the Midcoast! We have great slab pizza, sandwiches, beer & wine selection with friendly service. Everyone is welcome at Libby's!

Not much ambience but the lobster rolls more than make up for the lack of water nearby. Huge chunks of absolutely fresh lobster on a toasted buttered bun. The price is high but even the small roll contains a large amount of meat. Other grilled sandwiches available but we always get the lobster roll.

Downeast Ice Cream

Reviewed By easyriderNh - nh

We were in BoothBay Harbor over Columbus Day weekend, having dinner at McSeagull's when a lovely couple sat down at the bar next to us and said Hello, asked us where we were from. People are always so friendly. We mentioned that we were going to Downeast Ice Cream for our dessert for a delicious hot fudge sundae with the best coffee ice cream after dinner and they said "so sorry, we own the ice cream shoppe and we just ran out of ice cream for the season, closed a few minutes ago". We didn't get our sweet treat that night, but it was such a pleasure to meet the lovely couple that own the shoppe and are responsible for the great friendly staff who work there, the wonderful atmosphere when you walk through the open door and the BEST homemade hot fudge sauce made by the very sweet lady who owns the shoppe.
We will look forward to our first sundae in the 2018 season and hopefully see the owners there next summer. Happy Winter season off.....you both deserve a break.
