Wonderful location, old style hotel with a generous sized room and a Panorama view of the Mountains.History on the walls with old certificates to music competitions in the Allgau. The balcony in summer ,we did go in a wet May,would be covered with geranium boxes which would make sitting out a real pleasure.Very clean throughout.
Downstairs the bar is split into 2 by dividing doors to have a restaurant and a Seating area for the bar.Breakfast is served here ,which will certainly keep you going till late lunch time and the local soft cheese with him paprika is superb.Evening meals are taken in the main area with durndl dressed waitress being given efficient and friendly. Our meals were beautifully cooked and presented by the owner Paula .In many ways it was a slice of Bavaria from 30 yrs ago but with 2016 comforts.Excellent beers!

what's good:
- trout dishes
- venison dishes
- Haxen / pork knuckle (Thursday is Haxentag); there are 5 or 6 pork/lamb/veal knuckle dishes on the menu. Perhaps a bit more sauce could be poured over the Haxenpfanne, but that's the only reservation.
- desserts: huge slices of home-made cakes (especially Bienenstich is good) and even bigger Kaiserschmarren (kind of sponge-cake chunks with apple mousse for dipping in)
- outdoor Seating with view of the mountain rising just on the other side of the stream
- portion sizes (so be careful to make sure you have space for those desserts)
they're closed on Mondays.

Schankwirtschaft Wohlfahrt

My wife and I just finished a superb meal in Schankwirtsschaft Wohlfahrt and after Reading its reviews here on tripadvisor we decided we HAVE to give it it's right review!
This restaurant is amazing!
We are traveling in Germany for a week now, and this one is by far the best we ever had dinner in.
The food was really delicious, and more important was really authentic (we were the only foreigners in the place), dishes were huge, fresh and very very good. My wife is on a gluten free diet, and the staff was very attentive, and fixed her an excellent meal.
OH and the beer... My god their beer! Made by their own Brewery delicious and served in a unique huge cup.
You have to try it!!!

There are not too many restaurants in Pfronten, and this one is in the center, next to main street. It is always crowded, but they are able to service more than 100 people in the same time.
Food is ok, quite tasty, considering number of people and prices.
If you are hungry it should be good choice, but do not expect anything extraordinary.

We came here on a cold Sunday night, and this was what we wanted! The beet was definitely amazing (stronger than the usual stuff) and the food was pretty decent too. The goat cheese and the apple pie was most definitely delicious!

The service here was very good, the waiter really listen to what you said and tried his best in meeting every bodies wishes in how they wanted their food. We were a group of 13 people and went back there 3 times during our week in Phronten.
In general we were disappointed how little vegetable there was available with the dishes in all the restaurant we visited. Rose stubble had the nicest vegetable but the amount of vegetable could be a little larger.
Since my return home home to the UK I realise that most people who visited Bayern seem disappointed with the food there because of the ack of fresh cooked vegetables. The cakes were great!

We were recommended this wonderful little restaurant by our accommodation in Fussen (we stayed at Seespitz Hotel. - please refer my review of that excellent place). It was snowing heavily and we wouldn't have gone without the recommendation and a GPS tracker!
It was so well worth it. Lovely views of the valley and Mountains in a cosy dining room in the 1780's built guest house. The food was good. I enjoyed smoked trout. My wife loved her pork medallions. My kids were happy with their rump steak and 'small' schnitzel. Decent wine and beer selection. I had a very nice Creme Brûlée as well as a good coffee to finish.
The hosts are friendly. If you're in the vicinity give this place a try!
