Where to Eat in Petoskey: The Best Restaurants and Bars

April 14, 2018 Enriqueta Cusson

Petoskey, sitting on the shores of Lake Michigan, has been a popular vacation spot for decades. Earnest Hemingway spent the first 18 summers of his life sailing and fishing on nearby Walloon Lake, and the area features prominently in several of his stories. The Little Traverse History Museum shows how the Petoskey area was a formative influence on young Hemingway. The area is also a well known winter destination, with three popular ski resorts featuring everything from dog sled rides to tubing.

Great to find a coffee shop that has both great nosh (including the gluten-free stuff), excellent coffee, and an atmosphere that allows for the art of conversation. Most modern coffee shops are way too noisy for me. Food, drink and service all exceptional.

Tried both the fish fry, available Thursdays & Fridays, your choice of cod or perch, baskets are $10, excellent, 4 pcs with fries & excellent coleslaw, We also tried the original gyros & they were fair, we are quite spoiled by Olga's in the Detroit area, Olga's have gyro making down to a perfect science, so these were not quite as good & quite salty.

The food was just average, but the beer was outstanding! I had black and blue burger, which was just ok, and my better half had the reuben, which was sub-par. Our waitress was nice, but we felt rushed. Maybe we caught them on an off night, so we will give them another chance the next time we are in town.

Order at the counter and pick up at the end when they call your name. Would go again.

Bar and restaurant, very historic. Previously named Park Garden. Good service and good food, however avoid Fish & Chips and the seafood linguine. Pasta was waaaay over cooked. Cook obviously NOT Italian. Fish and Chip was mostly breading. Whitefish and Steak, however, was very good. Would return.
