Petersfield is a market town and civil parish in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is 17 miles (27 km) north of Portsmouth, via the A3 road. Myself and my wife went to JSW yesterday, attracted by the Travelzoo offer, even though it was a 70 mile round journey. We have eaten extensively at many quality venues throughout the country and were pleased to be greeted with a warm welcome and a glass of champagne. As this was a new venue, I waited with some trepidation to see if each course could be as good as the last, and I have to say it was. The presentation and quality of the food was OUSTANDING, clearly made with love and skill from someone with a passion for food.A nice touch, was that we were asked to let them know at any stage, whether courses were being served to fast or at too slow a pace It was not so much a meal as an experience. The wines provided with the courses, were well chosen and the whole ambience of the place merits Jakes accolades. (Owner and Chef). Well done.

Just on 50 years ago, we walked from Petersfield to this pub while staying with relatives in our then courting days.
We were delighted to be spending our wedding anniversary in the area and made the effort to retrace our steps to find it had stood the test of time and was as we remembered from all those years ago!!
It is a wonderful throw back to, for us, a golden age of the small country pub with great beer and delicious food although, unfortunately, no home made scotch eggs available for us!!!
When we were last there, we were introduced to Mead which we had never seen before. If you have not tried this very ancient drink, make sure you do when you too go to the Harrow as it is still available there!!!
Happy time and happy memories and, hopefully, you will still be going full tilt when next we are in the area!!

27th December, woke up to snow in the Cotswolds. Needed to stop off on our way back home to the Beautiful South with no snow. Ok, park the car in Petersfield and take pot luck. Well, as luck would have it we parked right outside Annie Jones. Looked fine, no walking in the cold, give it a whirl. What a surprise. We only saw the coffee bar at the front but it’s like walking into Mr Ben’s wardrobe if you can remember that children’s TV programme or a Tardis if you’re a Doctor Who fan. We sat in the coffee bar, served by a lovely young lady. Had two coffees and two very tasty and crispy Pastries. The rest of the premises at the back is enormous, looks interesting, and quirky, which we like, can’t stand those coffee/restaurant chains all looking the same and too pristine by far. Next time we’re passing through we’ll try the tapas, or the bar area, or the coffee, or......

Lovely atmosphere in this quaint building. Great italian food and wine, friendly attentive staff it was busy but served in good time. Good prices and lovely coffee.

A few weeks ago Trip Advisor said you were open all day, but when I tried to get lunch at 2:30 you said you were closed. So I wrote a review complaining about this, and you changed your opening hours to say you were closed between 4pm to 6pm which is what it shows now. So today I try and get lunch at 2:20pm and again you say you can’t feed me - kitchen closes as 2pm.
Why oh why can’t you give us correct information?

This place really deserves ten out of ten. Great location at the bottom of the Main Street. Open, light and bright building with additional Seating outside.
A genuine welcome from the moment you step over the threshold. Good menu, fairly priced and enough choice to suit all comers. The staff are attentive and informative and give time for you to study the menu.
The ordering system is swift and efficient with the Delivery of food and drinks equally efficient. There is nice touch of setting your cutlery carefully in the right place. None of the nonsense of everything being in a serviette in a jug in the middle of the table. It's the small things which make a difference.
Overall a great place, good food and equally good customer service. Would happily recommend and will happily visit again. Top marks to the owner and staff.

Three of us enjoyed the set lunch menu that was very good value for money. Tasty food, though understandably small portions but perfect for lunchtime.
Quite small and rather basic inside. Good service and tasty food. Will be back another time for an evening meal and will select off the main menu.

Although it could easily embody such a history, it was actually purpose-built in 1916 as Petersfield's local garage. Family-owned and run, The Folly is a stylish, warm and inviting drinking, dining and socialising icon in the heart of Petersfield. Combining the character of a superb heritage building with a delightful menu and wine selection- it is a true hidden gem.

Lovely restaurant, attentive but not overpowering staff, wonderful food and wines, it was our first visit after recommendation and as it was our wedding anniversary we wanted it to be special! They didn't let us down! It was quite busy but the meal came in a very reasonable time, it was hot and beautifully cooked. My husband took advantage of the Steak and Port meal deal and it was very good value. Lovely staff and we will definitely go again!!! Well done all of you.

It is Monday night and we dropped into the Thomas Lord hoping for a bite to eat.
We were not disappointed, with the menu or the service.
I had a wonderful chorizo and tomato risotto and a salad. I asked for no dressing which they were happy to do. My husband had duck cassoulet also lovely.
The service was quick, friendly. Perfect.
We are very lucky to have such a fantastic pub near by.

Friendly, welcoming staff, a great place for New Year's eve. But for me the highlight was the cuisine. We enjoyed the really authentic flavours. Not as spicy as in Thailand but right for British tastes. Probably the truest, most enjoyable Southeast Asian food I've eaten in the UK. We had Set menu B, drinks and dessert, the bill for three came to just under £130 including a service charge, which we thought good value. We will definitely go again when next in the area.
